What about Prison's - Are they over crowded?

Every state has a prison where convicted felons go to serve there time. Do you think the prisons are over crowded with prisoners who either REFUSE or REJECT rehabilitation or do you think there in prison because they can't be a good citizen? Are Prisons a place for young boy's and girls who are headed down a life of crime and can they be stopped before it's to late?

Of course they are overcrowded. And they are short-staffed. And they are dangerous. And they are underfunded.

They are there to punish the guilty. Rehabilitation rarely works and recidivism (returning to jail because of habitual relapse into crime) is the rule.

So far as children are concerned, it's no place for them. But it would be nice if youngsters had a fear, or at least a nice healthy respect, of going to jail or prison so that it was a deterrent to crime.

In my opinion, and in many studies that have been done, absentee fathers are common to a vast majority of prison inmates. The disintegration of the family is a major factor in how a boy, or girl, decides to live his or her life. That seems to be rather obvious. Unfortunate for all of us.

The prison system is a mess it is overcrowded.

Definitely overcrowded. if we must incarcerate people we should at least do it sanely and humanely. many people are sitting in prisions for trivial reasons

I think a lot of stuff could be stopped if we helped others an taught them there's betters way in life then crime an yes they are overcrowded
