Men's Jewelry-- I would like your input!!
« on: August 19, 2016, 05:31:24 pm »
I am planning on making my dad a necklace with a turtle charm I found, but I was not sure what to make. I need some ideas and inspiration!! Anyone of the men out there that wear jewelry, please give me some ideas!!

Even if you have a brother, father, or son or any other male that could give me ideas, would appreciate it!!

You have to remember that most men are fairly conservative when it comes to fashion. So I'd think simple pieces, like a chain with only that one charm on it. Similarly with color, stay with blacks and greys / silver; no need for brightly colored jems or charms. Also men tend to prefer metal and leather materials, and less inclined for cut stones. Good luck with your project; I'm sure he'll love it however you decide to make it!

there ins't much men jewelry that i like.  A nice ring or maybe a good necklace.  that it about it. I hate chains  around their neck or arms i think it looks tacky

I might not be the best person to comment on your post. My father never wore jewellery of any kind, he was a manly man, and the only slightly shimmery item I ever saw him own was a pocket watch my grandfather gave him. My husband used to wear an earring when I first met him - a colored diamond or some other fake stone. However I don't care wether the gem was authentic or not, that is not the problem. My husband is now nearly 50 and I'm sure he would like to wear an earring, but my opinion is earrings never, ever, look good on any male over 20. Apologies. I don't mean to offend anyone.

Thanks for your input!! I have an idea as to what I will make him now. I saw some really neat looking braided leather cord I am thinking of purchasing.

I like chains or bracelets on men. However I do not like the large ones.

I'm not big on jewelry on a guy. I will admit some guys can pull some looks off better than others, but in general I do not like it.

Yeah, but I'm MAKING something for my dad. He already has a really expensive watch he refuses to wear because he doesn't want to lose it.
