My girlfriend and I went to a cooking class at a local supermarket last Sunday. For $100, they bought all of the food, and you just had to show up, prepare the dishes, and bring them home. We got to make 5 dishes each serving a family of 4-5 people. It was an excellent way to try new recipes... Often I don't like to try new recipes if I don't already have the ingredients on hand; it'd be such a waste were I to buy a new ingredient for a new dish only to find out that no one in the family likes the recipe. With that cooking class, you only use the amount food that the recipe calls for, so if after eating the dish we find out that it wasn't that good, we're not stuck with an abundance of raw ingredients with no recipes to use them up. Good luck with the chicken marsala; that sounds delish!

I remember the first time I made a Beef Rendang with coconut milk, spices and blitzed up onions. It takes many hours to cook - basically until all the liquid from the onions and coconut milk has evaporated and the oil from the beef starts to come out. It's enormously flavorsome. What's great about it is it can be made with the cheapest of meat cuts - beef chuck!

When making the Marsala chicken   you can sub. the Marsala wine with chicken stock. But it is not quite the same flavor.  I love trying new recipes. Sometimes the cone out great and once in a while hubby will say  well it taste pretty good, but you don't have to go out of your way to make it again. I know then he is not fond of it. Live and learn.

Trying new recipes is fun and exciting for me.  I especially enjoy cooking Puerto Rican food, it's so good and flavorful.

I had a friend whose hubby, after eating a new dish of hers, may say she needs practice.... It was a tongue and cheek way of saying that he liked it so much that he wants her to keep "practicing" it (and feeding it to him, of course!)

Awwwww that is really sweet.  I hope it comes out good and he is pleased with it.  He sounds like the kind of man who would appreciate your efforts either way.
