I will put shirts on plastic hangars and hang them from the deck railing, patio umbrella and/or trees occasionally if it isn't going to be too windy. It has been kind of a windy year in Colorado so I haven't had much opportunity to do so. Love the smell of shirts that have dried outside and miss the days when clotheslines were the predominant mode of drying clothes. I throw my dress shirts in the dryer for about ten minutes to minimize wrinkles. Typically I lay my shirts over chairs in the house and really try to limit using the dryer. I don't like my clothes tight. They dryer tends to tighten the fibers, cost extra money to run and takes away the nice loose feel of shirt as well as extra wear on the shirt that does not need to happen.

Your question/story reminded me of the question I always had on my mind and I never got an answer to it, Why do you iron your linens and sheets? The only one reason I had wow they must be extremely neat people, geez what extra work, because I agree with you the sheets smells so good. Well, I seen on TV either on Monsters inside me or the 1000 ways to die tv show, Did you see what can live on your laundry hanging out in the open air!!! So now I understand what your hot dryer is more than getting your clothes dry, and your hand iron is more than getting your wrinkles out of your clothes.  :sad1: I have a large house and I can make one of my rooms into a dryer room, because PG&E bill can get high, and it drops much when I line dry, in my drying room, you outside dry anything you use your hand iron, PLEASE  :pumpkin:

Heck no lol - too much trouble and I am too disabled.  I can remember my mom hanging out laundry when I was a kid and still can remember the sheets blowing in the wind and they always were warm and smelled fresh.

I love the smell of clothes hung outside. However I stopped doing that about 20 years ago, when I had a BUNCH of tiny black spiders get on my sheets, and I found out they were there later that night when I put the sheets on the bed and they bit the heck out of me!

No more after that

It depends on the weather during the day I do my laundry. If it is sunny out and not going to rain I definitely do use the clothes line instead of the dryer; otherwise not. There is no question the clothes feel and smell a lot fresher when I do hang them outside.

Use too, but now too much pollen in the air and it gets on the laundry and causes allergy.
