I had a relative stay at my home for a few days months ago, turned out they had an infestation at their home.
So I immediately went in to precaution mode, because what if... I read tons of articles & it was almost easier to just burn down the home to get rid of them. We purchased a couple nontoxic bug sprays, bed bug bully turned out to be the less obnoxious smelling & safe for people/pets. We sealed off rooms & let them heat up, thankfully we were having over a 100' weather then. We put Diatomaceous Earth all round beds and furniture. We bought Rubbing Alcohol and daily sprayed clothes on floors, furniture, etc... We washed and heat treated all pillows and beddings. Although, it was a pain, we never saw a bed bug, but we kept up for about a month, we still use alcohol, it's just smart & is multiple purpose for germs. Thankfully our pr emitted strike worked against a potential infestation.
Do the alcohol spray for sure. It's easy, and cheap and kills bugs on contact. And vacuum daily. I put double sided take all around the couches and beds to see if any could be trapped in the sticky part, & none were. It's a good way to check for bugs.
Good luck !!!
