When do you walk away?

Sometimes we all accept jobs that we don't feel are fair. When do you walk away and consider it not worth it anymore?

start looking for another job and when you find one, tell the new boss you have to give 2 weeks notice, if they really want you they will wait Most of the time the old boss will let you go before then because they don't want some working for them that does not want to be there, I did it twice, because the one thing i could not stand was for the male to start fawning and touching me.  In doing it this way the new boss knows your doing the right thing.  I then ended up with a job i really liked with good pay. You don't have to stay where you are not happy.

I pretty much stick it out as long as I can because the money is generally worth it. I had a bank position as a vice president when I was about thirty. The pay was awesome and the benefits out of this world. The problem was that my boss was a micro manager and treated me worse than a slave. I was I was in the middle of having a house built with less then a month away. My boss chose to call me out in front of half a dozen employees. At that time I decided that I had had enough and let him have it (verbally). I tendered my resignation and told him that he could pay me to stay home for my two weeks notice or he could have me sit in the office and harass him on the clock for two weeks. He chose to give me off with pay. I was offered a job within forty eight hours with equal pay and flourished for several years. That being said, I think that I stay at a job until I am disrespected at a high level.

Thanks for both of your suggestions. Yeah, when I did the math it isn't so bad but I still think I could get better. I plan on looking and have been from time to time. Most of the offers were actually worse than what I have now. I'm just trying to stay hopeful. Sometimes you have to look at all the factors before walking away and I don't want to walk away because I hate to lose work but then you also have to realize when it isn't worth your time anymore.

I haven't had a job working for anyone but myself for 40 years.

Sometimes we all accept jobs that we don't feel are fair. When do you walk away and consider it not worth it anymore?

When do you walk away? When the stress takes over your life and you're ready for a nervous breakdown. I had a job I loved but I decided to leave and start my own business. That was mistake #1.

I was asked to come back in a position in accounting and I jumped at the chance. After 2 years, I just couldn't take the stress of the job. They just kept adding more and more responsibility but  the wages never changed.  Then one day, I overheard 2 of my co-workers say something really nasty about me and I walked into the boss's office and gave my notice.  Two-faced people is something I just can't tolerate. It was just the idea that they acted like my friends and then talked about me behind my back.  Then one of the girls that had quit a year before came for a visit. She didn't talk to me and I later found out she was there for my job. Good luck with that! She quit 6 months later!

I decided to just concentrate on building my business up, which I did and never looked for another outside job.

Yes I can understand. About two years ago I worked for a call center and after about three months I couldn't handle the stress. One day I woke up and had trouble getting through the day and gave a two weeks notice.

However, I like my job but I think I can get better so I'm planning on concentrating on applying and just keeping my job right now. My job right now could even be used for supplemental to extra income on a rare basis in the future if I have the time. It all depends on what type of job and how many hours I receive in the future.

Yes I do walk away many times.  If I think it not worth my time I'll find another job.

When you feel that a job isn't fair, or you see red flags, that's when you comb through those classified. There is no need to stay in a job where you know you will be miserable or see things happening that you don't approve of.

I completely agree. I've been applying due to those reasons. I've occasionally had a few interviews but nothing so far. Even the job offers I received were commission only and I am looking for hourly pay.

I guess it depends on the circumstances and how much you need the money.
