I like the smell of a new book.  If that was ever taken away, I'd weep.

I think it started to look that way but, some people really want the paper copy.   Every time we try to go to a paperless system we are spending more money printing out what is needed.

For future generations, absolutely headed in that direction although there will always be a need for some hard copies.

Some books have become a nuisance, a health hazard. Yes, I am ready for summaries or synopsis online. By the way, some incunables (ancient books) are irreplaceable...so do not forget to view or read some before they are gone forever.

As a writer and a book lover, I'm not exaggerating when I say I will cry the day books are no more, if that day comes. I still love the experience of holding a hard copy book--in the bath, in bed--and flipping the pages and smelling the crisp paper. I can't live without books.  :sad1:

I'd be okay with that. We all know and accept that print media is dying.

That's the direction our world is heading.  Several printing presses have shut down in lieu of having to go out of business... just not enough money keeping them going.  Downloading a book or article is so much more affordable and convenient.. which is a shame.  I to love the feel of crisp pages and the smell that comes with a new book, a comfy couch and a cup of coffee combined.

Sadly everything is moving to digital: books, newspapers, coupons, etc. I am old fashioned. I like to have the book and newspaper in my hand.

I don't think so.  There are still a large amount of people (the older generation) who do not use computers.  My husband refuses to use a computer....
Have a wonderful day!

I hope not.  I have a nook and use it sometimes, but there is nothing like picking up a good book and reading it from cover to cover.

No, I really don't think there ever will be a world without printed books. People love the feel of books while reading too much to give them up. They like to hold and own printed books. I bought a Kindle years ago and used it to read exactly one book. Now all I do is keep it charged every few months.

It seems that way, the world is forcing us to change, it use to be when you went to a meeting or conference you received a printed copy of everything, now they want you to use your laptop or tablet to follow along.

It certainly looks that way but I really hope not. I would much rather have something I can hold in my hands and turn pages than looking at electronics all the time to read.
