What did your mom make that you still can't eat?

What if anything did your mother make for dinners that you can't eat even today!  Now remember, I'm German so my mother and grandmothers used to make pig's stomach.  To this day the thought if it makes me gag.

I won't eat tripe, or  any food made with it. Nor  will i ever eat it again.  The other thing i won't eat is beets, they are just awful.

I remember the most awful aroma coming from the kitchen when my mom used to boil up tripe! I don't even think I ever tasted it - I think she cooked it for the dog! But the smell was so awful. I would know the smell now, 40 years later, and there is no way on earth I could ever eat something which smelt so dreadful. The other thing was my dad's speciality - birds nest! He would boil an egg, place it inside a ring of mashed  potato (hence the "nest") and then would decorate it with tomato ketchup! I tried it once and puked! Even now, mash, egg and ketchup make me gag!

I can not eat calves liver sauté.  I remember coming home and the entire house would smell like sautéed calves liver and onions. The onions would make my eyes tear and the smell of the liver would make me wretch. I only remember my mother doing that twice and probably stopped because of how sick I would get for at least a day after. I also really dislike beets but I do not think that my beet dislike came from my mother's cooking. No matter how beets are served I dislike them. I had a salad, at a nice restaurant, a few weeks ago and could tell that the salad had baby beet leaves in it. I am not a big fan of Rhubarb and that is probably because my of my mother's cooking Rhubarb pie. No matter how much sugar she put in, the taste of Rhubarb was not disguised.

I can't eat spinach. Well, I can't eat cooked spinach. Spinach in a smoothie I can handle. I remember it smelled awful and was slimy. I had to eat at least 3 bites before I could leave the table.

I am a very picky eater so this would be a long list. I don't like chicken pot pie.

My mother never made us eat anything we didn't want to eat but my dad made us eat peas.  Mainly because none of us liked them.  I still despise them to this day.  He didn't make us eat any vegetable that he didn't like, though.  We liked a lot of veggies that he didn't and wouldn't eat!

My mom would make us breakfasts that were "healthy for growing boys and girls".... So things like tofu on wheat toast, plain oatmeal, and lentils (yes, for breakfast). One of the only breakfast foods that she'd make that I loved was milkshakes sweetened only by the fresh fruits she'd blend in. My dad, knowing how much I liked those milkshakes and how much I disliked eating broccoli had the wonderful idea of making me a broccoli milkshake once; I didn't even take a sip of that one!

      I never ate anything that I was offered and I did not like. Now, I know better and choose healthier food options to avoid health problems related to improper diets.
