Well, I'm a 48 year adult and I've always thought clowns were a bit creepy. If you ask me, anyone who continually wheres a mask and disquises himself as someone else, or something else, has something to answer for. We just don't appear to live in an innocent age anymore where things are taken on face value, and so I have always talked to my kids about things not always being as they appear, not to always trust what they see or believe everything they hear. You might think that I am a crazy mom who is going to end up with troubled kids, but actually, at 10 and 12 they are becoming very well grounded individuals.
I doubt kids who've been taught to question things are going to end up "troubled". It's the ones who HAVEN'T been taught to question that are, in my mind, apt to be troubled when they realize things aren't what they think they are!

As for these "killer clowns"... thank the news media for perpetuating the stories of so called "killer clowns" for the continuation of "killer clown" appearances. For my money, people just need to get a life, both the ones actually fearful of said clowns and the ones dressing up as said clowns. Just because someone wears a creepy outfit doesn't mean they're actually going to do anything.

It all boils down to selling the news.

Ronald McDonald is still around. He's been shelved for the Halloween season until all this clown craze has died down. I wish the other Mcdonaldland characters can be used but there's a lawsuit against them from long ago, I believe.

That is such a sad story.  It is so bad that someone would take something that most kids think are fun and turn it in to something that does bad things.

Ronald been around a long time and a few nuts come along to spoil things.  I wonder how the circus will handle this because they always have clowns.  Even clown schools will suffer, who wants to go and can't get a job.

I never liked clowns....but for some reason, Ronald McDonald never creeped me out.  I rarely eat at McDonalds, until I saw this topic, I hadn't realized that.   :D

It's a shame people have to be so stupid and ruin things for others.

You know, I hadn't thought about the effect these strange clown-inspired killings would have on business, such as McDonalds. As far back as I could remember, I've always had this love-hate relationships with clowns. But John Wayne Gacy and these murders definitely swung me towards the hatred spectrum. Nevertheless, not the Ronald. He is the epitome of McDonalds. :-(
