Halloween Cooking
« on: October 21, 2016, 09:29:58 am »
What kinds of foods have you made for your Halloween table? I made a candy cake, hallowed-out the inside was filled with candies I made a mud pie so delicious it was all black. I made garlic crusted for meats, for the vampires. I love to do these, all for a smile. Have a gr8 day  :present:

I have made a Monster Cake, which didn't turn out all that great, Ghosts in the Graveyard several times, and of course a variety of cookies. I don't go all out because we don't have kids and this year, where we usually go, they are not doing a Halloween party.
I just get to stay home and make sure my black cat stays in!

Now that my grandson is all grown up and moved away i don't cook anything special for Halloween, unless we are going somewhere for a pot luck then i will come up with something , but as we rarely go  anymore  we just enjoy giving the treats to the kids who show up and there is a lot of them.

My family and I usually just go to another family members home and celebrate halloween with them. So it's almost always party appetizers being served.

when my nieces and nephews were small I used to bake Halloween cookies for them. I am a retired preschool teacher so Halloween isn't as fun as it used to be. :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :peace:

You sound very talented and creative! Those are awesome ideas and cute for the kids! I have not done much lately but tend to do something this Halloween for my sons birthday. Not sure of what though! :D

If I had it to do over I would have done more stuff like that for my two sons.  We always took them trick or treating and bought Halloween candy for home but we didn't go all out and we should have because kids like that stuff.   :pumpkin:  Oh well can't go back and redo the past.

Still need more ingredients for the cupcakes I want to make, but I made vegan, packaged brownies into headstones by using glittery green frosting (looks like slime!) to write "RIP" on them, used the frosting as an adhesive to stand the brownies up on the plate, and as a way to hold "*bleep*" bone sprinkles on the top. I put cupcake topper bats into the back and voila, a spooky, yummy little graveyard!  :pumpkin:

Every year since we've been married, I make mummy dogs and baked beans on Halloween for my hubby and myself. I make melted cheese and ketchup look like innards seeping through the wrappings, draw faces with mustard, then place the beans to look like leaking brains.

We found several recipes on Pinterest for our upcoming Halloween party. Aside from the numerous baked goods, like an Oreo pie with crushed Oreos on top to look like dirt and gummy worms crawling thru the chocolate pudding underneath) there were a few more savory dishes too. There's actually a couple for hotdogs that we like: pigs in a blanket made to look like mummies and another where you trim off a half-moon shape of skin on one end, a few horizontal cuts in the skin around the middle, and ketchup at the other end to look like a severed finger.
