Shocked by my eBay Order
« on: October 22, 2016, 08:02:10 pm »
I ordered a piece of jewelry from eBay a few days ago and I received it today. I am shocked by what was sent me. It does not look anything like the picture and it does not fit the description. It was supposed to be .925 sterling silver. There is no stamp to indicate it is sterling silver and the bag said Made in China. It's a piece of junk..  It has no weight. At first, I thought the seller made a mistake and sent me the wrong product.

Years ago, I got some nice things on eBay but then the seller quit eBay and everything after that was junk just like today.  I stopped buying on eBay but got fooled again with this piece of jewelry.

I paid $10.99 for this pendant and it looks like the seller probably bought it in the hundreds for 25 cents.

I have already complained to the seller.   :o :bad:

I used to love to buy my jewelry from ebay. I bought a pair of jade and garnet earrings as well as a pair of quartz earrings from a seller ages ago, and they are still some of my favorite pieces. The were obviously handmade and were worth every cent. I think it all started going downhill will etsy became popular. My thought is all of the good jewelry makers moved over there and now ebay is filled with people that are reselling cheap stuff from China.

Tsk. How were the reviews looking for that seller prior?

Did it ship from the US or China? I only filter my ebay auctions to buy from US sellers. Make a complaint to the seller and hopefully they will make good on the sale and return your money. I'm a seller as well and you have to keep the customer happy NO MATTER what! Good luck and I hope you get a refund. :)

I used Ebay for a long time but have stopped.  It just doesn't seem to be what it use to be.   Did you pay with paypal?  I believe you can send in a complaint to paypal if the seller doesn't respond in a positive manner.   Did you save the original listing?    I know it can be a pain but I would pursue the matter as aggressively as I could.  Sellers like this need to be stopped.    Please keep us informed as to how the matter is resolved.   I"m curious.

Wow that is not only disappointing but aggravating.  I am starting to become afraid to trust any sellers on Ebay and have heard of other horror stories.  Hope they make things right.

That's awful.  :-\ I don't buy from eBay but have in the past and never had any complaints other than one item never showing up. I use Depop pretty frequently, and all the sellers on there I've worked with have been awesome and all my items have been great, other than one item not turning up. I think Depop and Etsy sellers tend to be a bit more reliable. eBay isn't the top dog anymore!  :dog: :)

I've never used Ebay. I've heard too many stories of people getting ripped off over the years, and while I know there are reputable sellers on there, I'd just rather not chance it.

I don't buy jewelry online except from one place, which I got a bunch of charms and made charm bracelets for people. I also make hand made jewelry and sell on a hand made site. Everything is hand made on it.
As for buying on eBay, I've had a few times were I had to contact the sellers. A few of them, I have replied to and gotten good experiences. Ages ago, I bought a bunch of comics, took a month before I could pay and he could ship because the timing was bad for both of us!! He was cool about the whole thing and stayed in constant contact with me to keep me updated so we could get it all!
I use Amazon too for shopping. A lot of the items I get there are exactly as described, so no surprises. It seems people on there are more descriptive with items and a little more diligent in communicating.

Have bought a few things on ebay and they were fine. I have some old comic books in fair condition and thought about selling on ebay. Seems like a big hassle so if i sell will just do it locally to one seller.

Recently, I have had two instances of buying from ebay where the picture/description was not what I purchased.

The first one, was from China, I ordered a white circular plush rug.  I got a yellow circular piece of garbage (sorry no other way to say it)...   To get a refund, I had to send the item back to China with tracking at my expense -- that is the buyer protection from ebay.  The seller would then refund me back the postage  $30 ... the rug only cost $10.    Then I was reading all these horror stories of ways they say they did not receive the item, they leave it the post office and don't pick it up, or it gets "lost" in China.     Seller then had it ruled in their favor. I lost out money & just threw the piece of junk away.  I should have purchased on a credit card, not paypal.

I just recently bought a small bug zapper by a certain brand -- I had had one before so I know what they should be.   What I got, was a China knockoff not even the same company name -- the item was junk, if smelled strongly of chemicals AND in the end the bulb burnt out in 2 days.   This seller was in New Jersey, but they are a Chinese bulk seller in America... apparently they have warehouses they stock & sell out of, so even if you buy in America, think you are getting a certain brand, you still can't be sure.   I had a tough time getting a refund, they get on trying to bargain the return price.    These sellers have 100's of thousands of feedbacks.... it is pathetic.   They are selling knock offs.

I am very hesitant to buy off ebay, esp if I can buy off Amazon.   No hassle in returning.

Presently, I need to buy an ipad power cord, they have cheap Apple OEM on ebay, but I am almost sure they are fake even though they say Apple OEM --    I'm going to buy it directly from Apple Store as I need to be sure it won't catch fire of break my ipad.    It is worth the extra $15 dollars for peace of mind.

Ebay needs to get rid of all their fakes.   It used to be great to shop on ebay, I miss that.  They used to have some hard to find items now they are like the dollar store.    I still get my printing ink from ebay, that is a great deal... some good deals to be had, just got to be vigilant in checking out the seller.

I only buy stuff from China when it's little things like elastics for my dog's hair (don't ask) or screen protectors.  Anything else like clothing I will not because 99% it will be fake.

I would have complained to the Seller, too!  I definitely would have asked for my money back.  That flat out sounds like false advertising to me.  What seems to be running rampant on eBay AND Amazon lately, are forgeries, especially in the category of SD cards and Micro SD cards.  I got caught once but thankfully was able to return the product and get my money back.  All of this garbage is coming from China and it really bugs me that eBay and Amazon let these rip off artists get away with duping their customers.
