When I shop on Amazon I usually spend more than $49 so I end up with free shipping, anyway.  The 2 day thing doesn't matter to me and I wouldn't be streaming the movies, at this time.

Maybe someday, I'll invest in Prime for a year.  Walmart now has a similar service but I do the same thing on the Walmart site.
Have a great day!

I've had Prime for almost a year now & since I shop more on-line than in stores, it works out great for me!  I LOVE that when I need something, Amazon usually has it (and most of the time it's same or cheaper than anywhere else.....but not always, so it pays to be familiar with prices).
The free shipping, the speedy delivery, their customer service is awesome!

I also gave used "Prime Pantry", watch the movies, etc.......it's so great that they offer so much with Prime at such a low price!!

Amazon Prime sure does have some nice perks to it but I find it too expensive for me because I do not use amazon enough to make the price of Prime worthwhile. Half the time I go to amazon, I then go to ebay and find the exact same item for less, so I end up ordering at ebay instead.

I just got it only a couple of months ago after debating whether or not to get it. There are a few perks to it such as the free shipping and fast turnaround time. The yearly price is something I can deal with since I can pay for it with all the Amazon GC I get. I do shop on the site quite frequently so I do feel I am benefiting from it.

Something people may not know about.

I have Prime and just ordered a new hummingbird feeder for $10 and change, but instead of getting it with two day shipping free, I used No Rush shipping (a week instead of 2 days) and they gave me $5 to spend later in their pantry. I haven't tried this before, but I am interested in what kind of stuff you can get.

I have Amazon Prime.  I love it.  The cost is worth it.

Not now, but if I can build up a lot of Amazon GC credit, I'll invest in it in the near future.

Just last week, my wife used a couple of these credits for the Amazon pantry.  I think she got some liquid hand soaps and dishwasher detergent pods.  Of course, we ended up spending more than the credits we had, but it was considerably cheaper than paying full price for the order -- all things that we would have needed at some point anyway.

If I am understanding your point correctly, I think you might be making a mistaken assumption. I'm not sure about the initial sign up, but I found out first hand that you cannot use Amazon gift card credits to pay for the Amazon Prime renewal fee when it comes due to re-up for the next year.  My gift card credit was not an available payment option when that happened.

It's still a great deal though.
