SURVEYS: more options for sex/gender and race

I know this has not to do with FC directly but with all the other survey companies...

It is 2016 (almost 2017 now) and SOME surveys still have a multiple choice instead of a multiple answer when it comes to questions like "What is your gender?" or "What race to you identify yourself with?"

Gender... we all know it should be more than just "male" or "female" as an option.
Race... for those who are mixed... why are they forced to choose ONE race if they are biracial?

EVERY survey should be updated and allow more choices in my opinion... why are we so behind with simple things?

Can FC suggest those companies to do something about it?? (This is why I posted it here... I think it is a very important topic).

They do tend to have more specific demographic questions if it's important to the survey but otherwise they just stick to broad categories that fit the majority.

True but they should still add more options. It does not cost them anything and it is only fair I think...

Most of the surveys I've seen you CAN choose more than one race if necessary. As far as gender, usually they have the option to pick one or the other, or decline. It would be impossible to list all the possible "genders" that people are comping out with nowadays.

I like surveys but it gets to the point where they ask such specific info anyways when you get to the qualification section. They ask you first what is your age, then they ask your birthday...it just seems redundant. To me I think they can get a good response if they allow some anonymity. I think in regards to the race question it is rather superficial. I mean just because you are a certain race does not mean you will follow what others do in the same group. ( I hope that is the case). But I can understand the reason marketers like grouping everyone a certain way...how about just give us qualification so the companies can make products for the specific group for specific qualities such as you have dry hair and need certain type of shampoo...surely people of all races have some of the same problems...So the qualifying question should be do you have dry hair? I really do like surveys but I wish it would not be so specific and redundant in asking the same questions to qualify you. Maybe there are changes in the works for the New Year!!!

They also want to make sure they've interviewing a wide group of people to make sure the product will sell well to all or whoever they're marketing towards.They don't want to just interview mostly one group and find out that's the only type of people buying it versus everyone.

My dry thick kinky afro doesn't need the same type of products as someone with thin straight dry hair. A person with lighter skin doesn't need to answer questions about makeup for darker shades.  My experiences as a black woman might be very different than those of a white man or a Hispanic woman
