I did mine and have made contact with several cousins I didn't know I had, to share information on family genealogy with.

I have considered the Ancestry DNA test that is being talked about so much.   Just not sure if it's a valid test.   Not sure how they determine lineage from DNA.   If I was sure it was valid I probably would do one.   My mom was born in 1919 in the mountains of NC.  There is not much information on her parents, not much information at all.   I was always told her mom was 50% native american.   Also don't know much about her dad's lineage.   Would love to know more.   She was one of 18 children, all of who are now deceased and not any of the many cousins know any more than I do.   If I ever find out that a DNA test can legitimatly provide lineage information I'll do it in a heartbeat.

There are times i would like to know more about my family. but If it was one for  medical  test, when the doctors are just fishing no. But we have traced my grandfather's family back to 1774, and i do  know my grandmother was first born in the U.S. on my mothers side, but  My fathers is going to be harder to find.

Probably would not do this.  Don't really care.  I know who my immediate family is.

It is interesting what technology can do.  I would be amaze to find out where most of my distant relatives came from.

If you are serious about wanting to know more, you should take time to watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG-8Y19ANCc

Then you should try to get as many of those cousins to get tested and share results, so you can compare matches.

I am curious but I'm just not sure if taking a DNA test is something I really want to do.

I took one a few years ago when National Geographic was doing the study I guess they are still doing it.  I found out where some of my ancestors came from and it surprised me because I wasn't aware that they came from that part of the world.  I was also surprised that my father told me one thing but it actually turned out to be something totally different.  I want to take a different test to actually know percentages.
