Doll Collecting
« on: December 30, 2016, 01:43:50 pm »
I have always had a large Barbie collection, but I have been looking around for other dolls to add to my collection and also to make clothing for.
I also look at some of the off brands too, because even they have limited doll clothing for everything. I really want to put together a fairly complete list of dolls so I can add as I get money to get them!
I have a Monster High, Sparkle Medium sized and Large Sized, Disney Princess, and of course 2 different Barbies (one is my mom's).
I know that Monster High, Ever After High and one of the other dolls are the same size, except for the larger ones. Then there are Blythe, which I would love to have one!! They are so cute! And a few other companies.
Then there are a number of 18" dolls like American Girl that are out there.
I've been trying to get a more completed list for some of the different dolls that are out there, but there are not a lot of people who want to help out.
So, if you know of any other doll brands, please let me know.

Just for Christmas, I suggest that you donate some of the dolls to the needy kids......

I played with barbies when I was 4-8 but grew out of it.

There is nothing wrong with collecting dolls or whatever you want to collect.  The only thing I could suggest is either google doll brands or you could go to Walmart and look in the girls' section to see what brands are available.  Then google say "Monster High Dolls" and you should be able to find a list of each doll they made.  Then you can make a list and cross off what you have and what you need to complete your collection.

You can also search on amazon for "??? Dolls"  Fill in what ever collection you are looking for.  There use to be something called Bratz.  And they have them little characters that are about an inch tall that have like wobbly heads.  I don't know the name of them.  My niece use to have them.  I think there are probably a couple here some where. haha

And as for "growing out of it" -- I still have the first doll I ever got as a kid.  I actually have a few of them that I have kept.  Collecting something does not make you immature or childish.  Don't listen to people who say that.   It would be neat if you had the room to be able to display them and have the entire collection.

Doll's scare me especially the ones that look life like! Save you're money or sell them on line, earn money not spend it!

Don't know if this will help you out any, but I found this website which lists a lot of dolls by maker:

I can't think of any other doll brands, but that sounds like a neat hobby. :) I guess I am kind of an "accidental" collector of stuffed animals, haha. I've always loved them and have been acquiring more and more of them. I love the Ty Beanie Boos! I'm also starting a small collection of Calico Critters. The bunnies, elephants, and hedgehogs are SO cute! :in-love: I hope you are able to expand your collection! I've always thought Monster High dolls look awesome. 8)

Thank you for actually answering my question and to countrygirl12 for the ideas.

I have been to the stores, but I lost my list that I had and cannot find it. So I was looking for help to rebuild it.

I am interested in adding to my collection and was wondering if there is anything NEW anyone had seen or knew of so I could add them to my list.

As for donating, yes, it is great to donate for the causes, BUT I am interested in COLLECTING not selling at this time. Many of these dolls I have are of sentimental value, from my grandmothers who got me interested in collecting them. At this time, I have absolutely NO interest in selling whatsoever.

I also want to reiterate, that I am looking to add these dolls as I MAKE clothing for them and want to sell the clothing online and at vendor events since I don't see a lot in the stores.

There is a doll collection museum in Winona, TX on Main Street when I used to live on North Pointe. I've never been inside but they also do repairs by toy Dr. Pat Schlau in the Toy Hospital at It's a Doll's World. They may be able to help you find what you are looking for and quite possibly be interested in your doll clothing sales. It's certainly worth the effort to make the contact even if for only future reference. My Grandma collected dolls and made wigs for them as well as clothes. She taught me at a very young age to make doll clothes and pageant dresses, prom dresses, kids clothes, etc. She introduced me to fashion design. Still today I like to see what the designers are coming up with.

If only I had stuck with it...What if ???

I love dolls-Call me: Old-fashioned! I love Madame Alexander dolls, American Girl dolls and Barbie dolls series, including Ken dolls. Remember for Christmas there is a company that makes dolls.
I do not know the name of the company. The dolls come in a box with different outfits. I also like paper dolls-two dimensional because they are educational. You can teach a kid how to dress a doll in  different outfits for many occasions.

Thanks! I will look into them! I have a lot of Barbie's, but I do want to expand into other areas.

Madame Alexander was one of the ones I forgot about!! I wanted to get one for my granma and I could not remember the brand! I know they can get pricey too.

Our local Toys R Us is now featuring American Girl and they now have a doll hospital for them. I saw one there before Christmas for less than $100, but I could not get it at that time.

Thanks for all the information. This is helpful!!
