Debts
« on: January 01, 2017, 03:36:34 am »
I am ready to start paying off debts. My focus is on my discover card. I will
Pay that off with my income tax. That will be another debt zeroed out.

Are you working on paying off a debt in the next few months?

I'm working on my bills and trying to keep my credit report going up. I have a couple of small bills that I'm trying to knock out. I'm hoping that I can save my tax refund.

That's great! I'm sure it will be a great feeling to have that paid off. That is my goal as well, to pay down my one credit card that has the highest balance and limit so I can raise my credit score. It's hard because the payment is so high but I am trying to give an extra payment monthly to start eating away at it. Good luck!

I paid off 3 credit cards in less than 5 years and they were high amounts. I kept my Discover because they were always good to me. I will only use it for emergencies now. Why? Because after I paid off my other cards, I guess they felt they had the right to up my interest rate. My rate was 9% and they raised it to 23.9% which is not fair to me since I always paid on time and above the minimum payment. Because of that, I'm have a hard time  reducing the balance. Last month they upped the amount I could charge by $1000. I didn't ask them to do this, so if it affects my credit score, I will be requesting them to take it back down to the original amount.

I am glad your working on your debt.  It will take me several years to pay off mine.   Working 2 jobs to help knock down some of it but prices and rent keeps going up.

I have to pay off some credit card bills. I put my tuition for school on them so that's been a fun process...

I am ready to pay off some debts too. I am also working on trying to save a little more this year. I am trying to cut unnecessary spending on bills and a few other things. I just want to save and enjoy life a little bit more.

I find that the best way to start paying off credit card debt is to first make a commitment not to spend any more to add to the burden.  I also try to make payments to the credit card companies more than once a month if I have funds available.
