We already have extreme vetting going on for the countries he names.  Not one of these countries has caused any problems in our country.  Some of the other countries he did not put on this list (because he has business dealings with them?) such as Saudi Arabia were where the terrorists came from on 9/11.  The list was for warnings about traveling to, not about immigration.  The list from President Carter was because they country had taken American hostages. The 7 countries listed, already takes 2-6 years to get paperwork to come in.  In the area I live in  many homeless and veterans have all kinds of benefits that they just do not take advantage of.  The take them off of the streets, give them shelter and food, and they leave right after dinner to go back out on the streets.  People who had already been vetted (such as the 5 year old separated from his family, the 12 year old turned back from joining the rest of her family) the 4 month old who needed medical treatment, should not have been forced to go home or spend days in lock up while they looked at their papers.  Our Military are saying how are they now going to be able to get help for translating etc when the promise of American freedom is now no longer able to be offered to civilians to help us.   The thing with the Donald is, he does knee jerk reactions  does not read all the way through or think about the consequences of his actions.

The list came from the Obama administration. Has nothing to do with Trump or his business ties.
