looking for people

there are a number of websites to help you search for people.
I found one a year ago that was alphabetical by first name, then last name.
There were a number of pages to search through.
It listed both the address and phone number of each person. .....a lot of people in that database.

I have a friend who's great at doing background checks on people.  Whenever I meet someone on a dating website he "checks him out" for me. 

I'm at the point where I wouldn't recommend getting together with someone unless I can look him up on the internet first.  Some of the guys I've met have an extensive criminal history and it's not worth the risk.

I find that a bit creepy, I don't want people to find my phone number and home address (!?) from just knowing some info about me :/

Anything that is a public record can be found online. And there's some kind of technology (or algorithm) out there where anyone related to you is then linked to you in these online databases. It is kinda creepy and an invasion of privacy if you ask me.

We openly share our lives on face book ?  I figure its out there for the finding.... i always judge a person I meet normal by how they treat me.  We have all made mistakes, people on line can be scary, so easy to unplug.

its easy to find out stuff about anyone now days...scary but everybody puts their whole lives on fb...and most of the time the pages are public and not private

i know people do find good people online but i am just to scared to with this world we have today to try a relationship from online just me tho

When I came across a website on searching for relatives, I saw my name with all the past addresses and phone numbers I used to have along with an old defunct email I canceled so many years ago. Most of the dates of my previous residences are outdated and inaccurate.  It’s an uncomfortable feeling to have such info about yourself available to the public – especially when it falls into the wrong hands who happens to know you. Too creepy!

     Do not use any websites that want to charge you a fee
to locate a person. Just Google the name or use the White/
Yellow phone pages.

It's very easy to find people these days unless they really don't want to be found.  Only problem is most of those sites charge a small fortune to tell you anything.

Are these free sites - usually when I go to look someone up they give you a name but if you want to know any more about them you need to pay.
