I ignore the protests. It is getting so ridiculous that decent people don't even take them seriously.

I thought it was about immigration and how all immigrants should not go to work or shop to show how valuable they are to our society.

can make a difference.  And for those of you who say we're just not happy with Donald Trump and we need to get over it and give him a chance.   No, I am not happy Donald Trump won.  I have a different set of values than he does.  I want the environment taken care of, I want an increase in the minimum wage.  I don't want a wall built.  I am not in favor of putting all billionaires in charge of departments.

I respect those who voted for him and have the same goals as he does, all I ask is the same respect in return.  Everyone has a right to their opinion without calling other out who might not have the same concerns.   I am retired, I am terrified about my Social Security and medicare.  I have worked constantly for more than 40 years.  I paid into Social Security my entire life.  It is not an entitlement program, it is my money.   The benefits that our politicians receive are more of an entitlement than my SS and medicare.   How many of you get your salary for life?   They do.

He cares about the environment. He does want to build the wall. Are you in favor of open borders? That's the progressive movement. Let anyone come into this country and live here. That destroys a country. Look at France, Germany, and all the other countries with open borders.  Terrorism is rampant. We need the wall to try to keep the drug cartel and terrorists out of our country. We can't go to Mexico or most other countries without their approval. Why should we allow anyone to come here without any vetting.

Most people do respect other peoples opinions. Then there's that fraction of the public that won't allow freedom of speech. Look at the protests at the colleges when someone is invited to speak and it doesn't "conform" to the liberal groups. Look at Columbia U. the other day. A Jewish professor was scheduled to speak but the University only allowed 20 "positive" students in to hear him speak, while the rest of the audience was made up of those against this man. Why? Because he was Jewish. Conservatives are not allowed to speak at most colleges and if they are allowed, the protests are so loud, they can't speak. Yet, the funny part is these college students that protest are protesting because they have free speech, yet won't let someone with a different opinion have their free speak.

I hate to say this, tiim but evidently you have no idea what the Republican party is planning. Otherwise, you wouldn't be be scared. NO ONE is taking away your SS and Medicare. They are trying to fix it. Nothing will change for anyone over age 55 (or maybe even younger).  You're listening to the progressive liberal lies that are terrorizing people. Don't fall into the trap!  The best way to learn about what's going on is to watch C-Span live or videos of what goes on in Congress and/or the rest of the government.

Sorry, I get so upset when people listen to lies and scare tactics because they're mostly sore losers. I hate it that not only the Democrats but Obama and Hillary are behind some of this but the major players are those who get most of their donations from those who hate democracy,  take the country backwards favoring nonwhites (which is racism), hate capitalism, think no one should be deported, etc.  I'll end my rant not but please, learn the truth. Do your research. Don't rely on the news.

sounds like a bunch of  hooey to me,  If they are taking off from work they don't get paid, if they are not working and drawing welfare they should lose it. I know  a lot of people wanted Hillary to win, but come on Trump won and lets get started  building our country not tearing it down. The longer they act like idiots, crybabbies, spoiled children, and are so stupid sounding over why they are protesting the  more other countries laugh at them.

I remember protesting the Vietnam war back in college.  We were so fervent about our desire to the end the war.  Students who lost their brothers or other loved ones, were heartbroken and angry at the government.  No one was angry at the soldiers.  I felt it was a worthy cause.

A National Protest Day?  No I did not participate.

I think the ones that organize the protests have a specific intention in mind, but then it gets so big that people attend to just protest without knowing what the protest is about.  These days with Trump so disliked, it's usually about him.  I never found protests to really do anything except make the news (especially if it turns violent) so I don't participate in them.

Yes, some people were angry at the soldiers, the ones who came back, at least.

But again to the subject at hand...

I'm so over supposed adults acting like spoiled infants... heck, I'm over teenagers acting like spoiled infants. Suck it up and move on, the world doesn't revolve around you... or me... or any one political party.

Like many other commenters, I will be working that day and cannot "go on strike". But if I were to offer my time and energy to a national protest, I think it would be to protest so many damn protestors about every single political and social issue under the sun.

To touch on the point of an earlier commenter, would protesting protests be along the same lines of being intolerant of intolerance?
:-X
Since it was my comment you're referring to, I'll chime in. Protesting protests, it's a vexed question.  ;) Though, I lean toward thinking it's a bit different.  ;)

I wish it was just a "protest day", but a different faction will probably have another "protest day" tomorrow.
