David Cassidy
« on: March 02, 2017, 09:37:29 am »
I saw David Cassidy on TV recently.  He announced his recent diagnosis with dementia.  I was sad to hear that.  My grandfather had dementia.  I hope a cure for dementia is found in the future.

Sorry about your grandfather. That is sad about David Cassidy. I was so in love with him as a kid. ;)
With all our technology and medical advances you would think they could at least "treat" if not sure dementia!

They can treat it.  I think the cure lies more in prevention.

Yes, was sad to hear that, glad he decided to stop touring and just focus on his health.

They don't want to find cures for stuff, how would all them Dr's have the fancy houses and fancy cars. And the drug companies how would they pay profit on stock with out selling pills by the billions.  The Mayo Clinic Rochester is almost in my back yard and is In the works with a pile of investors to become " The Destination Medical Center "  Even the State of Minnesota is dumping tons and tons of money into this, it's like a 5 year plan with a 700-page development plan just for the downtown.  What would happen if they cured these things  "Destination Ghost Town"  They must know something I don't when it comes to cures not being found for at least the next 5 years. Who would dump billions of dollars into something that might fail ? Scary to think about !!

I saw the diagnosis and interview on Dr. Phil, too.  It is very sad when someone gets any form of dementia.  My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and my sister recently died from complications of vascular dementia.  Yes, I am a bit concerned/scared!
There are drugs to treat dementia.  What they primarily do is slow down the progress of the disease. I believe that research is going on all the time for some of our most threatening diseases, such as cancer, dementia, heart disease, and diabetes.  I have read about some of the in-roads that are being made, but they are complicated processes and take money for that research. It is why if I happened to get a windfall, some of it would certainly go towards that research.  With babies and elders being kept alive much more than in the past, the new bacteria that is constantly mutating, and misinformation about vaccines, there will be disease and conditions for a long time that will need treatment.
