I've never been to Alaska. But I love to go there some times since I heard it's really nice and pretty.

I love Alaska. I live in Alaska. Visit us during "good weather" season: May1 to September 30.
Winters are rough...unless you like very cold weather.

I would love to go for a visit ONLY but i won't because my husband would love to live there. He talks about it all the time. He would love to live in a cabin off grid and away from people.  I can't stand the cold so I'd be a real wimp there. Plus the long, long winter of darkness would give me cabin fever big time.

Hubby and i went up a few years ago. (sis lives there)  We rented a small motor home for a week and traveled around a lot, went on  a short ocean day excursion and saw a lot of sea life, then went  deep sea fishing one day and caught halibut,  then took a float trip down  one of the large rivers and caught salmon, saw so much beautiful country,  glaciers,  went to a musk oxe farm, watched them shear some of the fur.  bought a scarf make of the hair it was so soft and light but real  warm, mean little buggers . you did not  try to pet them. A lot more things were done also. Quite a trip. But  by going in September there were not so many  people. I would like to go back again.

I have never been to Alaska but I would love to go there someday! It seems really beautiful up there and it would be fun to go on a Alaskan cruise one day in the future!

It is on my bucket list to visit.  We knocked a couple more states out as "visited" on our trip out west a couple of weeks ago.
Have a wonderful day!

If you go fishing, just be careful. My son lives up there and the last trip we took was out of Seward. We spent the night on the boat at Thumb Cove, then the next day fished the next cove to the East and spent the night there, but the next morning on the way back hit 12 foot waves for over two hours in our 23 foot boat, NOT FUN! However I did end up with 50 pounds of Silver Salmon fillets. Later we took a one day Glacier Cruise on a small boat from Whittier with a Salmon Dinner included and it was magnificent. Well worth the time and money.

I never got to go there, we planned a Alaskan Inside Passage Cruises when my mom would be Cancer Free or in remission but this just never worked out. I studied allot about the trip we were planning so I'd have to tell you to go. My mom had two brothers who had moved there because of the hunting and fishing and she went up a few times to say her farewells as they too fell to the mighty Cancer and were taken way before their time.  Phil was a lover of the whole idea of never seeing a single person as he went on a number of hunts and the stories where always of the wonders of Alaska and it's beauty. And many trophies for a hunter and or fisherman. My mom said it was the most beautiful place on earth, and that came from a woman who hated being cold. I've never gotten to take that trip we planned, I had many times thought about bringing  her ashes to spread up there but I couldn't because the 23 year friendship friend  I'd asked to go with me who had a sister in the travel business didn't make the deposit on the trip with the money I sent her, and found a slot machine that needed my cash more than going on that trip.  So Never got to go never got the money back, end up being the rotten person because i got mad.  If I had the money I'd been on a trip to Alaska I really think its some where we all should go.

Bummer.  I am so sorry for the cancer in your family and your ex-friend.

A family friend moved there because he got a job there. Liked the job's pay but can't stand the cold weather!

I have not been, but it is one of the places on my bucket list of things to do, hopefully more sooner then later. I have friends that went on cruise and they said it is simply beautiful, so I am looking forward to being able to do.
