Regardless of his past, it had nothing to do with the situation at that moment. He was perfectly within his rights to refuse to give up hi seat. The next logical move from United was to offer more money or move onto the next willing person. That was such an unnecessary incident.

Recently before this there was a thing with a young girl in leggings.  I think these airlines have gone crazy and do not appreciate their customers.  I think people should boycott these airlines that mistreat their customers.

I was going to start a new post on this but happily I saw yours.   This is disgusting and I hope he sues the pants off United Airlines and the CEO is fired for his original bs comments.   They need to stop overbooking flights.    Security in airports and on planes is a must needed thing these days but this time it was not needed at all.

After the incident occurred, it was all over the media and made front headlines in the newspaper. My co-workers and I discussed about it during lunch break. If the doctor decided to sue, he will have a very high chance of winning. Despite the doctor’s negative past, United was sleazy enough to dig into his past to justify their actions. It definitely was not relevant to this incident because he was still a paying customer. I agree they need to offer a higher incentive, but they were stingy.   :bad:

Seeing how they mistreat their customers, consumers hold the power to boycott this airline as they are the lifeblood for any business. Customers always come first before employees. Miraculously, their stock plummeted like an airplane crashing down to its death. The CEO is in hot water. :party:

This has been a big story. I saw the video and yes the Doc. was strange but still did not deserve to be treated the way he was.

There is no excuse for pulling that man off the airplane! He paid for the flight he wanted to be on for a reason. What happen to the customer being right? The staff should've been the ones that were "reaccomodated?"

I've read all replies. To me, it looked like it was a lawsuit in the making from the start. The way he screamed and yelled while he was being taken off the airline was ridiculous. And the women passengers screaming and saying, "Oh, God," and "Why are you doing this to him?," etc. was ridiculous as well. No one should have been saying anything that was not directly involved. Just being on the same flight does not give you the right to interfere with the authorities.  :o

People filming him with the blood on his face while he's muttering "must get home" and saying how much in shock and trauma he was in. Now, really.  ::)

For some reason, it's looked upon as excessive force when law enforcement do what they have to do to make people comply. It is ugly. Violence is ugly. But one should expect excessive force being used against them when they do not comply with the law, whether they like it or not.  :sweat:

Since when does his being a doctor make it all right for him to act like he did? Do you think his seeing any of those patients was a life threatening situation that he needed to address immediately? Come on.

I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.

I can't believe the airline would even get physical with one of its paying customers.  To make it worse, the passenger they pulled was a doctor who actually needed to stay on that flight to make it back to one of his patients (which was the only reason he was on that flight to begin with).  He should actually sue the airline, not just for the physical damage to himself but to send a message to ALL airlines that it's NOT ok to overbook then physically remove paying customers because of their (the Airline's) mistake.

I found something online that shows a video and commentary from another passenger on the  flight that states that this man and his wife had originally offered to be bumped as they thought they could get a later flight that day.  When they found out the flight would not be till 2am they changed their mind. 

If the guy said he would give up his seat then he should have stuck to that.  He made this way more of an issue than it had to be.

Having been in law enforcement for many years, the police or airport authority was way out of line.  That is why several of them no longer have jobs.  The CEO was up for a promotion and lost that.  So no this is/was not the way to handle the situation.   If you had seen the passenger with front teeth knocked out, a concussion, broken glasses, screaming and not made some sort of comment as he was dragged out that would be quite strange.   The airline should be organized enough to know when they have to deadhead a group of employees to another location before the passengers are boarded.  The airlines could have offered a lot more incentive and someone else would have probably taken it.  Once you are on the plane it is ridiculous for them to suddenly figure out they have an entire crew to get somewhere else, poor planning on their part and inexcusable behavior towards the passenger.

That was a horrendous day for that whole airline of passengers to witness and that poor man! United should be ashamed!! That security/officer should be investigated and I think he is for being a big a-hole! That was not necessary to drag an elderly man like that. Imagine how he treats his parents! :o
