Switching to Organic..
« on: April 28, 2017, 10:23:21 am »
Do you eat organically? I am gradually switching to eat organic foods/products only and need some pointers.
I read that you still need to wash your organic fruits and veggies, which is fine, but what solution is best? I soaked my apples and strawberries in a water/distilled white vinegar bath for 15 mins or so. Is this good or bad to do? Help! :o

Thanks! :)

I have heard that that is the best way to wash stuff like that but things like strawberries should be washed just before you plan to wash it.  I have gone organic yet.

Pretty much everything I buy is organic. I worry about my family's health and it's the peace of mind of safety in general even though the cost is a little bit more. If it's closer to lowering a doctor's visit, I'm all for it.

I buy a good amount of my fruits and vegetables organic whenever I can. There is a list you can find on the Internet - "The Dorty Dozen: 12 Foods You Should Buy Organic", which is helpful. I usually just rinse them off though.

I only eat organic foods occasionally. I wish it wasn't so expensive. We shouldn't have to pay so much money for healthy food.

I buy organic if I find it on sale & the sale price is close to the price of the other...otherwise I don't.  I use the vinegar wash for all fruits & veggies but....that only removes surface "junk", any pesticides used on the items absorb into the items & can't be removed.

Items can be labeled "organic", yet still be grown in dirt where the soil has been dumped with chemicals & those chemicals also are part of the "organic" fruits & vegetables.  The food industry has cause more sickness & death than the tobacco industry has, and it just continues to get worse.

It doesn't matter if it's the water we drink...the air we breathe, the junk food OR the "health" food---it ALL causes cancer.  So I think all things in moderation, getting ones self right with God, and ENJOY life because no one's getting out alive.

Idk... I always just rinse my fruits in hot/warm water. I've never heard of using any kind of solution in the washing process  :o
