TV stations
« on: May 22, 2017, 08:47:05 am »
a neighbor of mine made the comment the other day that she has all these channels up to high numbers. she doesn't watch those channels.
some people can live without extra channels.
there's no need to pay for something you don't use.

It's easy, just quit paying them. I cut the cable years ago and have never regretted it.

We have around 200 channels and we watch 25 (I counted them one day). We can't pick and choose what channels we want and that's sad. We don't watch sports, hubby doesn't like movies, etc. I've downgraded my cable service 3 times in the past couple years and the next step would be where we would get only 25 channels, but NONE are channels we watch.  Now the company is charging us an extra $5 a month for the sports fee. It costs me almost $40 in taxes and fees, taking my cable bill back up to almost $200 a month which I can't afford.

My son ordered Dish for their $39 a month for 2 years but every month, the cost gradual rose. He complained but their answer to him was that he could cancel and pay the full 2 year's cost PLUS cancellation fees. So now he has Comcast AND Dish.  I'm so glad I never went for Dish!

All in all, these companies rip you off totally. It's even worse where I live because we have the choice of Dish OR Comcast. That's it! Verizon and the others aren't available because "we're too rural" even though we're 30 miles south from Verizon's services. I'm trying to find a solution to the problem but so far, nothing.

Totally agree, if only these cable companies would just let you choose what channels you want to watch and not tell you, you have to get this and that in order to have a lower bill, paying for channels you don't watch is a waste of money, they tell you they can't take off certain packages like sports or music channels, i don't watch sports, so why should i keep it, paying $100 or more for channels you don't watch is ridiculous.

I have basic then just pay for HBO and Starz.  I hate having to buy packages for maybe that one station you may watch.  I don't get why one can't just buy only the channels they will watch rather than be forced to get a zillion and one channels they never will.

I do not watch TV. I have just an antenna without cable or satellite. All I watch now is just movies on Netflix. The only thing I missed are the sports Channels.

I've been debating if I should cut the cord. I have Dish and I rarely watch anything on it. I mainly watch DVD's and movies on YouTube. I feel like I'm being ripped off.

I wish we lived nearer  one of the big cities, but living out in a rural area you just can not get TV without  using cabal in town or a dish.  Really ticks me off what they want to watch them, If it was not for hubby  liking his sports I would just shut it down.  But considering we don't go out parting, going to clubs, rarely got to a movie nor eat out ( since it  would always be the same 3-4 places to go ( which gets old)  we are not paying much. Still.

I don't have cable... I enjoy watching Netflix, Hulu, slingtv, and not worry about channels that I do not watch.
