brand names
« on: June 07, 2017, 07:04:45 am »
growing up, most every household used the same brand names.
nowadays, people are giving their business to smaller companies.
the milkman lived next door.
then, things changed.

Many big brand names are no longer offering any kind of quality or even safety anymore.  Nowdays, it's all about how much money they can get from people by offering them the minimum.  Nestle Purina is a great example.  Their short cuts & compromised ingredients have not only sickened & killed THOUSANDS of pets the past several years (they are still sick & dying from that food, I see the reports DAILY), but their foods for people have also been recalled many times.  They'd be one brand I have boycotted for life.  After a company compromises their reputation the way they have, I would never trust them again.

There's too many other places to shop.  Brand names mean nothing anymore.  Smaller businesses, smaller shops, farmers markets & hand crafted items offer better quality.  They keep jobs in America.  That makes it a better value.

Big businesses only care about profits now.  If the money saved from taking a short cut is more than what they'd have to pay due to lawsuits, they'd consider it an acceptable risk.

Small businesses know that a single lawsuit can shut them down so they're more careful.

Some store brands are just as good as name brands.

I buy some generic products, but I have to admit that I still mostly buy name brand products. :)

Some store brands are exactly the same & made by the same company as the known brand...
I do purchase store brands of some items as I have found them the same quality as the known brand...
for example, Olay dish soap & the Walmart brand dish soap... are, I would say, exactly the same.
Also, I purchase some knock off allergy meds from Sam's Club, that have the same result as the name brand.
Also, the benedryl knock off at the dollar store works the same for me as the actual benedryl

I try to buy local produce as often as possible.

Bottom line: Don't buy packaged processed food, no matter who/what the brand name is.  Those big corporations are killing us with poison food.

To me brand names are just the same as non brand products, sometimes you can find an item that is just the same, but with a lower price, depends on your spending habit, I tend to go the lower route.

I buy a lot of store brands, but still many name brands. Sometimes you just get used to a certain brand and don't want to change.

I buy a lot of name brand things, mostly because I use coupons and rebate apps. Otherwise, I would get the store brands because they are cheaper when I don't have a coupon. There are a few things like Tostitos, that I only like the name brand, and not any store brands or off the wall brands.

Speaking of brand names, do you ever notice brand names in movies and television shows? I didn't realize they did that for a long time. Now I see it all the time.

And does it make people feel better to wear name brand clothing that is so expensive? I know it's higher quality and lasts longer, but I suppose it makes the person feel more important as well. You know?  ???
