Which do you think is better? Pay before or after when dining in a resturant

I prefer to pay after dining because there have a couple of times our order was incorrect or the service was horrible and when we informed the establishment they reduced our bill.

I've never heard of paying before the meal, at a regular restaurant. It's best to pay afterward, in case you want to add on a dessert or something at the end, or an additional drink. Of course, places like Golden Corral have you pay first, since it's just a buffet so there's one price.

Definitely AFTER dining. As one of the posters in this thread stated, it is preferred to pay afterwards, particularly since the service may not have been to par or the food tasted horribly. If there is an option, I always pay after services are rendered (e.g., auto, hair, dining out) for these very reasons.

The only time I pay beforehand is usually more casual places(fast food, coffee shops, pizza, etc) or I'm getting it to go. If I'm sitting down to eat I would pay afterwards because I may change my mind or want something additional. The only time I'll prepay is if I'm doing some specific deal where I know that's all I'm going to get and pay a set price

If it is a sit down restaurant I would never pay before.  If it is a fast food place I never thought anything about paying before I ate.

Change your mind?  I am thinking like a sit down restaurant - once you place your order I would not think you would just change your mind. lol.  I would not be surprised to see a sit down restaurant where in the future you place your order and pay and then are served.  But the way people walk out and don't pay they got to protect their assets.

I prefer to pay after I finish dinner, because sometimes I may add dessert or coffee, if I have a taste for after my meal.

This depends. There have been times when I was in a hurry, so I would order, get my food and pay. That way when I leave, I don't have to worry. When I am with others, I like to pay at the end because sometime we like to order coffee or desert.

I think it is best for me to pay after only because I may or someone else may add more to the order while eating or something may go wrong with the food order.

Paying after we eat is always best for me, but some restaurants will have you pay once you come in the door, like Harvest Table, let have you pay as you walk in the door, then go around to the buffet line and get your food, they have good food, but now their prices are way too high.
