you also have to remember that you cannot "hear" the content/intent because it is text... it may be meant as a joke or sarcasm and just sound mean because we can't hear the feeling behind it and don't know the person saying it...not saying there aren't mean people on the forums, but I haven't seen many and I take most things with a grain of salt and the ones I feel are genuinely mean I just ignore

You are right. I have sarcastic sense of humor and really try to filter it when I'm online. It is so much easier when people can hear the tone of my voice lol
I have seen very few rude people on this forum. Most are helpful and friendly.

I don't have any problem filtering what I read to ignore what doesn't add to my day.

Yes, people can be rude - that's a given. It's not what is said: either in text or verbally; but your reaction to it. Just remember to use your virtual delete or ignore button. When people are rude it's because they don't feel good about themselves, so they unleash it on others. Refuse to receive it.

Isn't it shame that with the internet and role models in this country people are becoming increasingly rude, judgmental, nasty, belligerent, and just plain mannerless?  (Is that a word?)  Well, no matter, it is becoming quite appalling what some people will say on the internet, not even so much on this site, but all over certain blogs and comment sections.  It is very disappointing to say the least.  People seem to feel the need to critique what someone says and even how they look in pictures.  Sometimes it is just better to keep your mouth shut.

... and to tailor to the Internet a popular saying by your mother: "if you can't type something nice, then you just shouldn't type anything at all."     ;)

People don't have filters, they think it's okay to be rude to others, it's not okay.

There are some people who don't know how to do anything but be rude.  They don't care if they hurt anyone's feelings.  I try to go out of my way not to hurt someone's feelings because I don't like to get mine hurt.

Agreed... "older" crowd has been overall very nice kind and helpful.... seems like some newbies lately are just rude....
Hope they don't bring the whole nice FC atmosphere down.... we won''t allow them to ;)

I agree. We are all simply trying to make some money here and figure things out. Posting something nice or encouraging makes everyone who reads it feel better rather than reading something mean. Boost people up...don't tear them down.
