Don't Step on a Bee Day!
« on: July 10, 2017, 08:25:56 am »
Do you go out of your way to save a bee? I have always took out a drowning bee out of the pool. Nowadays, wow, don't step on a bee!!! What ways have you been a hero to a bee? Have a gr8 day  :present:

I never had to rescue a bee before, but I am mindful of them while walking in my backyard. I have clover flowers in my grass that the bees like to collect from, so I'm careful not to step on them.

I'm allergic to them so I either have to step on them or inject me with an epi pen. its either the bee or me. I can 100% gurantee my husband would choose me.

I go out of my way to not kill a bee.  Also, to rescue any that needs to be rescued.
I have bees in my backyard & it's a peaceful coexistence between them & us...  they do their pollenating thing & the world is better for it. :)

I like bees but I try to stay away from them. I don't want to get stung.

There is a day for that? lol

I don't go out of my way to save one but I don't go out of my way to kill one either.  Honey bees are important.

You don't have to step on them.  They are not going to just see a person and attack you.  Well unless it is yellow jackets and you run over their home with a lawn mower. haha  My Mammaw was allergic to bees and she didn't go out of her way to kill them.

I have rescued a few out of a tote that has water in it by the back door.  Bugs too.  I wondered about myself the other evening when I got a stick and rescued 2 bugs that had got in the water and could not get out and were struggling on top of the water.

I've shown my children how to make native bee homes by drilling holes in a stick and hanging them behind our garage. Gotta help those native pollinators.

When I was younger like 6-7 years old, I stepped on a bee barefooted and boy was it ever painful. Never again.

A few years ago bees somehow got in the back side of our storage building and built a hive.  My father-in-law called a local bee keeper who came and got the bees, all the honey and the hive.  Wish I had been here to watch from afar lol.

The only encounter that I have with bees was when I was at a very young age. Back home in the jungle I went gathering some coconuts and stumbled upon whole nest/honeycomb. Let's just say it wasn't the best way to introduce one self but had to literally pee in a container to cure my ears, neck and cheeks from the sting. My face was all swollen my sibling went with buckets of kerosene and burn the entire area out of their love for me.
