I don't think they should be kicked out or not let in. We need as many people in our military we can get. I don't believe the surgery or hormones should be paid for. When they join they should join as the sex they were born as. There shouldn't be any change until after their service is completed. If their insurance covers it after that it's fine, but don't waste the military's time trying to have elective surgery while enlisted.

I dont agree with the transgender life-style military or not...but what about all the other bad habits that go along with being in the service and then out of it....like cracking up?

Oh thats right...they could care less then about those not serving anymore!!

NOT singling out TRUMP here.....this has been going on forever with other presidents and i am sure if Hillary won,her as well.

Out of the 118,000 retired transgender military personnel and the 11 to 20 thousand now (numbers keep changing) that confirmed it, tax payers have not had to foot the bill.  They have to come forward to tell they are transgender, doctors are not allowed to tell because of privacy.  There are some pretty high ups that are transgender besides a large number of special forces....we going to just throw them out now because a 5 times draft dodger (who was capable of playing varsity sports and who also kept his own children out) thinks it will distract from his other problems.   This sounds like the same baloney we heard for why blacks, women and gays could not serve.    That has not caused problems and we should be grateful and proud of any one who chooses to serve our country.

He's using this transgender issue as diversion tactic from the Russia issue & the health care failure by the republican GOP! I believe the medical sex change costs issues is not a cause of worry because ppl joining the military would've had the procedures done! What person going into the military go in half done?

my opinion. any one who is willing to die for are country and let us keep our freedoms should be in the military .  were talking transgender  not gender reassignment . and most insurances do not cover for the medication.

No. Obama lifted the transgender ban 7 1/2 years into his presidency. Merely a year later it was reversed. This isn't something Trump came up with out of nowhere. It's politics just like when Obama lifted the ban.

American taxpayers should not have to foot the bills, the meds, the time away from service, or after service.

Private insurance should have to deal with it.

VickySue you misspelled "male", its not mail, and as for having transgender not being allowed in the military is not a law, the constitution hasn't said if they can or cannot serve, Trump is a not a constitution, it will take more than him to make that a law, they should be able to go into the service as male or female, but using that as a way of making a change in their gender, while serving is not appropriate.

Hate to disagree, but remember Chelsea Manning? Who paid for that surgery? The taxpayers. Taxpayers also pay prescriptions which, for transgenders, supposedly cost $30K a month.  They don't just go through surgery and everything is fine.

I think this is why Trump decided no transgenders in the service (because of the high cost of the meds and because he thinks maybe some of them might want to change while in the service so the taxpayers would have to pay). BTW, it's NOT official. It has to go through Congress. Just because Trump says something doesn't make it a law. That's what checks and balances are for...which Obama never believed in...

I don't like the idea of doctors playing God and they are doing it more and more often. Changing genetics of plants, animals, cloning, and now I think i read where they are experimenting on changing the sex of a fetus if the parents want a different sex. This isn't normal.

I think out of respect to our military. It is great to see that those who are serving are more focused and have a clear mind while serving and protecting the country and its people. What you do to your body is up to you that can be secondary to the main goal.

If people with flat feet can't get in because it would cost to much.  I think it would cost tons more if they had surgery. My taxes don't need to pay for that.

I think this is a good decision as the middle class in America cannot afford to keep funding the bill for every type of problem this would cause.  Its about time someone stood up and said enough is enough.  The general welfare of every human being should be considered and not by catering to a small group.

This upsets me as well. It's not fair at all to transgenders. They deserve the same rights as everyone else.
