Take away privileges until they straighten up.

Sit down together & create a contract with you're problem child! Doing nothing will lead to worst situations!

Limit their video game usage until they clean up. I use that with my 11 year grandson, it works.

Don't let the older kids out of the room except to use the bathroom until the room is clean, they will clean it when you stand your ground with it. Good luck

You have taken on a huge responsibility. Its going to take awhile to set up boundaries and have them respected.  Love and discipline. I applaud you for doing what you're doing.  Remember, you are the adult.

This is the reason why I am a little cynical about the new generation. Ugh, I know, I'm showing my age by stating that, LOL. The solution to this problem is setting clearly defined boundaries and doing this as early as possible.

When I got married I inherited 3 stepsons that never did anything around the house.  Since my husband and I both worked full time I told them that they had to pitch in around the house but they refused to pick up after themselves.  One day I took garbage bag out and started throwing everything that was laying around in the bag.  When they noticed what was happening they started complaining and I told them every time I see something that is not put away it was going in the trash.  It took a while but soon they found out I meant and things started to change.  Hope you find your solution.

I am so glad their mom is home.  I hope you get into a routine that works well.  I wish you all the best.
