is their any books i could maybe buy or borrow to learn alegbra my grandson has to take both beginning classes this year to make up for failing 8 grade math i would like to help him but i havent been in school for 25 years im clueless

There's plenty of online resources to teach math. If he already  failed hes probably  going to need a tutor or extra help from his teacher though

Check with the local library if you can't find anything online.

I did find a great book years ago that helped me with algebra, but I haven't been able to find it since.

I believe it was a textbook and they are your best resource, IMO.

well his new guidance teacher thinks he maybe can catch up if he takes two beginning alegebra classes back to back my thinking if he cant get it he will be failing to math credits right off bat but thanks for suggestions even though i have my high school diploma it is of no use i know nothing of alegebra and my husband is worse he doesnt even have high school diploma

Algebra is much more simple than you think. Teachers can make it simple and fun, or boring and tough.

To start out, it's as simple as 2 + X = 4.      Find X.      X = 2.      Get it?

I went online and watched the video listed below. Check it out. It starts out with the basics, but keep watching because the videos keep on going with more and more information. You and your child just may get it yet!

BTW, it's fun to watch. Hope it helps. If you want it bad enough, it will.

Look in the goodwill/thrift stores, you may find text books students donated when they can't sell back their books. Some math teachers also donate their math instruction/answer text books. Also, on line there's free math course or help sites/apps you can join for free!
