many senior facilities offer dining room hours that are open throughout the day.
"continuous dining"
the resident can eat a  light meal if they like.
they can choose their main meal at noon [European style] or in the evening[American style].

I didn't know that, but I wouldn't because I am not there.  But when my husband Aunt was there they ate at certain times, but things are changing.

Both my sons work at Assisted Living facilites (different ones) they are strict about when folks can come into the dining area to eat and I kinda think it stinks.  Those places are not cheap but they kind of act like they are doing the seniors a "favor".

I eat mainly when I'm hungry. I try to eat small amounts and spread them out.

Sounds like a college dorm...  or a cruise ship :)

I try to eat 6 small meals a day about every 3 hours.

If I ever wind up in a senior's facility I certainly couldn't eat all hours of the day, though I am glad these places offer such a commodity since everyone is different.  I personally get sick to my stomach and will just throw up if I eat too early or too late.  I basically am a 10am-7:30pm person.  Any food before or after those hours and I'm done.  Doesn't matter what it is, even a fortune cookie can make me vomit, how well it's cooked, I'm going to throw it up.  My stomach just won't take food all hours of the day and night.

That's a nice feature and one I'd enjoy if I were there. My stomach seems happier when I nibble throughout the day rather than sit down for huge meals.
