shopping cart quarter
« on: September 26, 2017, 05:32:26 pm »
sooooo, every time I go to the grocery store, I have to have a quarter to get a shopping cart.

but I kid you not, I have gone to the store 4 times this week and I go in with one quarter and I come back with 2.

It seems, nobody likes to walk back to the cart corral to retrieve their quarter and I just happen to pull into the parking spot next to these people at the most opportune times. and yes, I try to give them my quarter and they never want it, so I pocket my quarter and at the end of my shopping, I walk the cart back for the quarter back.

bam! i made one dollar this week for doing nothing.

so each time this has happened, I naturally think of fusion cash because although we do have to put in some time, we get money for doing not too much.  I mean, who isn't sitting in front of some sort of device right now?

And to be quite honest, at least I'm making some change into dollars, most things people in my household do is actually costing me... hahah oh the sweet balance of life!!

get your quarters y'all!!!!

You must shop at Aldi's too?   I have one right next door to me and never go anywhere else since I no longer have a car.  Sometimes people will offer me their cart and refuse to take my quarter and other times I see someone digging in her purse looking for a quarter. Then I give her a quarter or my cart, hahaha.  Life is good.

I too shop at Aldi all the time and leave a quarter in my cup holder of my car for this purpose.  I have no problem walking the cart back because I like the idea of no carts in the parking lot scratching up the cars.

I'm not a regular Aldi shopper but I go there occasionally and I've also had the experience of people giving me their cart with the quarter still in it.They must have really been in a hurry to leave.

I recall a story from years ago about my dad's trip to Aldi's.  It was new to the area and this must have been his first time there - unfamiliar with the procedure.  He thought he was doing a good deed when he took a cart from an elderly woman walking it empty back to the store after unloading her purchases into the car.  He cheerfully said something like: "Here, I'll take that back for you!" figuring he was saving her the trouble of taking it all the way over to the store and walking back again to her car!   LOL!

I'm not sure what sort of expression the woman must have had on her face when this 'good samaritan' stole her quarter away from her!  But she must not have protested or put up a fight...

I dont shop at Aldis that much, but I have in the past gave my cart to someone just coming in, just to be nice and hopefully make their day :)

When they say wait heres a quarter, I just tell them no thanks, just pay it forward to someone else

I never heard of this.  My husband does most of the grocery shopping and he loves Aldi's.  So I just asked him if he has to pay a quarter for his shopping cart and he said, "Yes."  He said most of the time he forgets to get it back if the cashier doesn't automatically give it back to him.

:) Well, this is new to me. None of our stores do this. I am like you. I take all the carts in I can. :)

We must have some very disciplined shoppers in my area because the only quarter I retrieve is my own.  LOL.  I don't mind it at all.  I'd much rather have a clear parking lot.   :)

It's funny that you likened this to Fusion Cash.  When I was about half way through reading your post, I was thinking the exact same thing.

We must be opportunity seekers or something.  At any rate, I'm enjoying it all.   8)

Wow, where I live we don't put money in shopping carts to use them, we get them, no problems.

Hahaha seriously! That's my thinking! At the end or beginning of my day(very unconventional occupation that I have with abnormal hours), I hop on FC while I mindlessly watch Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or HBO. Might as well be on FC earning back what it costs for these subscription streaming sites! 8)

You don't really pay for the cart since you get your quarter back when you put your cart away. It saves them having to pay someone to do it for them. I think it's a great idea.

I've really learned to like Aldi a lot anyway. Great deals there.  :D
