Cable Television
« on: October 08, 2017, 08:39:03 am »
I have just cut ties and am no longer paying the exorbitant prices charged for hundreds of useless channels. We started off with basic cable two decades ago for about fifteen dollars a month. My wife is an avid tennis player so we added the tennis channel which would only come in a package of two hundred channels that we rarely watched and bumped our bill up to over eighty dollars. Shame on the cable companies and shame on me for contributing to their corporate greed. I researched quite a few options and ended up getting a wireless stick. We already subscribed to Netflix at ten dollars a month and now we can stream those movies and movies from Amazon prime. We signed up for prime because we don't intend on going to malls anymore and we save more in shipping/discounts/gas/time than going to the mall.

All of these cable companies should be ashamed of themselves, charging too much for their cable or satellite, they figure if you want to watch shows, they you must get the shows you want to watch, no, not really.

I am cutting the cord at the end of the year. I will have internet, netflix, maybe hulu and a couple of basic channels. that wil save me lots of money. And I really don't pay for netflix. Paypal pays and FC pays for paypal.  :)

I haven’t had cable for a couple of years. What’s there to watch on TV nowadays? Hardly anything! I stick to DVDs and blu-ray discs instead now.

It's a waste of $$$$$$$ paying for all them channels that you don't watch anyway.

We did that earlier this year.  I kept the internet.  We have a fire stick and have Kodi loaded.  We watch a lot of the good ol' shows we watched growing up.  We got a digital antenna and can pick up 18 - 20 channels.  We also have a 200+ DVD collection.
Have a wonderful day!

I don't feel like it will be long before the traditional cable companies are a thing of the past.  I have a device that connects to the internet and I have any movie I want, and any tv show I want.  No monthly fees!!!  The only problem is while you can get live sports, there are times where that is hit or miss.

If it was up to me, I would get rid of it tomorrow. I don't watch it at all. I think it is a big waste of money. :-X

Our cord was cut for several years, but we recently moved and could get no local stations at all (for news) and the only good Internet was Comcast, so we went back. We live with our son and his family (separate apartment), so we split the $50 a month bill for basic cable and Internet both.

We did the same, it was so expensive and we only ever watched stuff on a couple channels that we had only halfhearted interest in anyway. Ironically when we got back our regular local TV we found more channels we liked.

:) I need to do something. My cable, phone, and internet, cost me $200 a month and we watch about 6 main channels. :(

I live in a rural area and it is either cable or satellite.

We've been crabbing about the high cost of cable for years. We need to move on this.
