NFL Players kneeling for the National Anthem
« on: October 09, 2017, 05:55:47 pm »
I don't have a problem with NFL Players kneeling during the National Anthem.

That being said, I think we have the right to know what this is all about.  Some people ASSUME it's about disrespecting the flag or this country.  Those thoughts exist on the surface and I don't like making assumptions.

I want at least one of these players to step forward and explain why they're doing what they're doing.  We all know there's a certain amount of chaos in this country.

Why are they refusing to comply with the way things were done in the past?
Have a great day!

I know one of the players (Cannot think of his name) as my husband is a huge football buff. Anyways one reason a player is kneeling is because of the racial issues he is seeing in the united states today. Other then that I have not been following too closely to the other reasons or football for that matter.

Since the national anthem protests started,I have stopped watching the anthem. When I watch an NFL game I don't turn it on until at least 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.

Colin Kaepernick started it last year when he said he won't respect the flag or this country as long as there is injustice in the country...while wearing his pig police socks.  I find it very disrespectful to all the service people who fought and died for him to be able to protest.

It's a double standard. Tim Tebow took a knee to prayer and what did they do to him? Didn't he have to pay a fine and was then canned from the team?  Double standard?

BTW, In the operations manual, the NFL states players MUST stand and show respect for the flag and the national anthem or else pay a fine and/or be benched. So why isn't the NFL following it's own rules? They pick and choose whatever rules they want.  Double Standard.

Our local newspaper asked if people stood behind the players and back the NFL and 76% stated they don't and will no longer watch the game,

I believe they have the right to protest.  That is why the military fights in the first place.  So that we have these freedoms!

I don't think you have a right to know why the football players are kneeling. I think you are misusing the word RIGHT. Do you know what a right is? A right is not just something you want to know.  From where do you think this right is deprived from?

So, these football players are kneeling? And you don't know why? And you are listening to the news? I'd like to SEE some effort go into figuring this stuff out. I'd like to see the figuring out team, figuring some things out.

I don't know though. What is so offensive about kneeling? Isn't kneeling respectful? Is it bowing? All this crap about get on your knees and pray and I can guarantee that the majority of people out there do not kneel to pray regular. You, being from Utah, probably don't kneel to pray regularly enough. If you are Mor-man, I don't know. But, I know you don't because the Prophet had to challenge you all just to read your scriptures. Shame, Shame. You probably fold your arms more than kneel.

The operations manual doesn't say "must" stand.  It says they "should" stand.

I respect the players right to kneel if they want to kneel.  The issue I am having with folks leaving the games, burning merchandise and generally protesting the players that are kneeling is that in my opinion they are punishing the players that are standing.   I'm not exactly sure but I believe there are more players standing than kneeling.   Why not show respect for the standing players rather than complain about the kneeling players.   For me it goes with that saying "does one bad apple ruin the the whole barrel".

He explains it perfectly.  It was never about the flag or the anthem.

I stand for the National Anthem and for all it stands for and I kneel for the cross and for all it stands for. There are other ways to protest and peacefully.  But if they are  so into saying injustice for the blacks it should be for all races. What they should do is put their money where their  mouth is and do some good for their communities  it would mean a lot more to those are  down and out.  Like being  stars for the children to look up to, instead all they se are a bunch of fools who are making millions and not helping out somewhere.

I think everyone should stand for the anthem.  I feel it's disrespectful not to.  These players making millions in this country should show respect to the flag of this country.  We may have problems in this country, everything may not be fair, there may be injustices, but bottom line this is a great country.  Try disrespecting the flag in North Korea, Iran, etc. see what would happen to you.
