What was your favorite Childhood book?
« on: October 28, 2017, 12:50:51 pm »
We are planning a baby shower for our daughter.  Her sisters wanted a "book" theme.

It has been fun finding out what their favorite books are!

The Value of Believing in Yourself: The Story of Louis Pasteur (Valuetales)

Cassie's magic flowers: The story of Calico Crossings;

Tops & Bottoms (Caldecott Honor Book);

Tikki Tikki Tembo

Go Dog Go

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Ten Apples Up on Top

I liked Curious George books when I was a kid. Comic books were my favorite.

My favorite book was Hansel and Gretel, but I do not think that would be a good book to use for a baby shower. There was an evil step mother and a witch who eats children.

I liked The Giving Tree. Any one remember that one? I also liked Brown Bear Brown What Do You See.

I always loved the Berenstain Bears. I had a huge stack of their books growing up. I wish I still had them. I also really liked The Phantom Tollbooth.

"Where the Wild Things are" was the book that really got me into reading as a very young child.  Choose your own adventure books were next for me and made me an avid reader.

Where The Wild Things Are is definitely good. Another childhood book that I actually appreciate more as an adult is Oh The Places You'll Go

I read all the "Cherry Ames" nurse books when I was in elementary school, also "The Bobbsey Twins" and "The Hardy Boys."  As for earlier memories, I have to go with "Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes."  I can remember hearing them read over and over again. Also standing out in my mind are "Hansel and Gretel" and "Little Red Riding Hood."
