Why do people do this?

I am curious as to what others thing as to why people ask for other people's opinion and then get mad when they don't like what they are told.  haha  That makes no sense to me.  If you want someone to agree with you then get a parrot.  If you really want people's opinion then be prepared for not every one to agree with you.

Also I am curious as to how many people tell the truth when someone asks for your opinion.  Or do you just say what ever will make that person feel good?

I never get upset when someone gives me their opinion which I ask for, however yes it may hurt my feelings but that's life. However when people give me their opinion that I never ask for then I get irritated. For example, after I put on weight people were "so kind" to give me their opinion that I never asked for. I don't need their help to lose weight, now a few years went by and I have lost the weight by myself. My weight is my business and none of yours.

I saw a guy at the grocery store that I had not seen in a long time.  I was in my 20s and he was a perverted dirty old man that bothered me every time he saw me out.  Anyway, he walks up to me at the register and says "you picked up a little". I said what are you talking about.  He said 'weight.  you have gained weight".  I was young.  I should have said and you have lost a few more teeth.  smh.  But even now I probably wouldn't say that.  But I swear people are stupid.

I agree that your weight is nothing to any one else.  I can't believe what people will talk up to strangers and say.  I have some problems that are obvious if you look at me and it never ceases to amaze me what people that do not even know me will walk up to me and say.

I agree that was stupid, he doesn't even know you but he felt obligated to tell you, you put on weight as if you couldn't see that yourself. I really want to know why people rather bring you down then pick you up? When I lost the weight a few people complimented me and said I lost. Contrastingly a lot of people told me when I put on weight. This world is so backward.

I prefer to hear the truth! I'm overweight and I hate when people say "You're not fat" lol Hello? I know I am! I tend to speak my mind when people ask my opinion. If they don't like it, it's on them not me. They asked.

When I ask for an opinion I would like to think I am getting their HONEST opinion. This is why I get myself in so much trouble sometimes. Ask for my opinion and I will TRULY answer whether you like it or not, hey, you asked lol

I try to respond in a way that will not insult their opinion, but still tell the truth about how I feel.

I agree with you. It's hard to have conversations with people if they aren't willing to hear my opinions. You don't have to agree but at least respect each other.

I always say if you don't want an honest answer don't ask me for your opionon. I tell you what you need to hear not what you want to hear. my husband is the same way as I am.

You kind of answered your own question there.  People just want people to agree with them and unfortunately most people do just that.  By those who know me well, they know not to ask for my opinion unless they really want it.

I'm always truthful and if asked I will voice how I feel.  Everyone that knows me realize I'm very opinionated and if you don't want to hear what I have to say, don't ask me.  Most appreciate what I have to say.

I try to be honest, but not mean-spirited. If someone writes a post that really disturbs me, I just pass on by.

It would be fabulous if all parties could have intelligent discussions about whatever the topic. It's so interesting and informative.

It's shameful that people get mad about other people's opinions. I think they're even promoting that in the school system. The world is so upside-down about so many things.
