Nope. I like to give gifts and I like to receive gifts.  But gifts do not define Christmas for me.

I would rather give gifts that involve doing something with the people I care about like going to the spa or out to dinner etc. A couple my friends give to each other's favorite charities.
I always get gifts for my nieces and nephews  which is cash
Half my family wants gifts the other is happy giving to charity etc  :present: :peace: :bunny: :snowflake:
Be grateful for what you have and you will receive more than you ever expected

If you believe it you can achieve it.

We only buy for the kids in both my family and my husbands. His family forgoes the actual gift, but they do buy one single $25 gift card then do a thing where all cards go in a bag and you draw one out. That way you get to use the card for what you want and it's still a surprise because you never know what kind of gift card you will get.

I like this idea.
This year we drew names except for the kids.  Takes a lot of stress out for most of the family.
I'd be happy with no gift exchange, just come over, play games and be together.

We buy them for the grandkids and skip the adults. I do take advantage of all the big sales to buy for myself and the wife, but we don't wait for Christmas to enjoy them. This year I bought my wife an Amazon Echo, an Instant Pot, a new laptop and it's not Christmas yet.

If everybody would be on board, would you rather forego the whole gift-giving thing for Christmas?
I certainly would. It stresses me out and actually strains the time we should be enjoying together because we are all out hiding from each other buying things none of us really wants. Do you enjoy it or would you rather just have quality time with loved ones?

Nah.  I like to get gifts and I like giving gifts. I do not find Christmas stressful.

I agree with you. I would forego giving gifts. It’s not about materialism and consumerism, it’s all about what’s from the heart. I hate the idea of shopping for gifts under pressure. I think the best practical solution for Christmas gifts is to give cash to friends or family so they can buy what they like. :present:

I have been thinking about foregoing gifts because I get stressed at times and I m like this is not suppose to be stressful and spending and running up credit cards just because of one day seems kind of wrong in a way.

Not necessarily, but I would like everyone to incorporate more donating in people's honor as part of the gift giving. This year I asked my sister to donate to PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine).

I would be fine with foregoing gifts giving. The adults in my family are difficult to shop for and buy everything they want throughout the year. However, I actually enjoy shopping for the kids.

It has gotten rather expensive for me to buy for all of the nephews, in laws and grandkids and now great grandkids for  my family . I have none. The kids are now at the age all they want is either cash or  very expensive gifts and that is up to their parents and grandparents I think.  It was quite different when it was just  the niece and nephews.

We made it simple, don't buy gifts for the kids, give them money so they can buy their own gift!
