I'm Triggered!
« on: December 15, 2017, 08:22:25 pm »
Well, at least my thumb is. :P I've been suffering from something called "Trigger Thumb". Aka stiff joints and very painful! As some may remember I'm a cartoonist and it's getting tough to draw with a sore thumb! I've gotten some advice to take some Ginger & B6. Anybody else heard of a home treatment?

Try the good fish oils, osteo bi-flex, good collagen pills, vitamin C, do that ginger and b's suggestion, and stop eating high fats, sugars and harder starches stay with white rice only. Drink green tea, flavored waters instead of sodas, they're not that bad.  I wish you peace  :peace:

I don't wanna lose my thumb. I've had it ever since I was a little kid! You might say I'm very attached to it!

Have you tried soaking your thumb in a hot water with epsom salts?

It contains a much needed mineral for our bodies; magnesium. Most of us are deficient in that mineral.

Worth a shot.

This is from WebMD:

"The first step is to rest the finger or thumb. Your doctor may put a splint on the hand to keep the joint from moving. If symptoms continue, your doctor may prescribe drugs that fight inflammation, such as ibuprofen or naproxen. Your doctor may also recommend an injection of a steroid into the tendon sheath."

I also read something about stretching exercises for your thumb and something called an Oval-8 finger splint. Ask your pharmacist.  :angel11:

My pinky finger had that condition and the doctor wanted to do surgery. I refused surgery. When I went home I googled home remedies. I chose this one. I put my pinky in a splint for 3 weeks. I think it said to wear for 4 to 6 weeks. When I removed the splint my pinky was healed. Give it a try. Good luck. BTW I am going to see The Last Jedi tonight.

I have to say that some home tratments do work!
vitamin C, ginger, green tea, herbs and change of sugar/ fatty foods/drinks helps.  When in lots of pain i do have to take inflammation over the counter pills

I have tried that. Ironically, it made my thumb even more stiff & painful the next day!

Yeah, doctors tend to just prescribe surgery and there's no way I'm doing that. I've considered buying a splint, but it's difficult to function with a splint on your thumb. I may still give it a try.

Funny thing is I regularly take Vitamin C, Magnesium, Green Tea, etc, and I still got this in the first place!
