Heating pads for cats?

NOT a good idea... they can get pretty hot even on low, and the other deal about how cats chew or they do that "knead"  stuff , could cause a short,  not WORTH the risk,  how about a good old fashion hot water bottle ??

Because when the knot heads chew a hole in that you have a big water mess to clean up. lol.  My electric throw turns it self off after so long if it is left on.  So far they have not chewed on it.

I just got a heating pad and was going to let my very old cat sit on it but the instructions said not to. Couldn't figure out why. I ended up putting it on low and letting her sit on it for five minutes. Doesn't anyone know why this isn't allowed?

They also make them things you can heat in the microwave to put like on your neck.  It would just be warm for a short while but still.  You could get something like that.  It would be warm til kitty went to sleep.

I would guess that it might get too hot for her skin.

You should get a thermal bed for your cat instead. My mother did for the cat she has now (she always needs a cat).

Some people put more into their pets than themselves,animals in the wild don't get such luxuries/pampering either.When your pets die are you going to buy them caskets too ?

I THINK IT WOULD BE DANGErous to use any electric thing near your pet

I am 74, and use the htg pad to relieve sore knees, back, and just warm me up a little.

I would not use on a cat. They would play with the cord, and chew through the wire.

They stay pretty warm inside, always wearing their furry coat.

Some people put more into their pets than themselves,animals in the wild don't get such luxuries/pampering either.When your pets die are you going to buy them caskets too ?

That was uncalled for.  Why would you say this to someone.  I have pets that are wrapped in blankets or in a box when we buried them.  A lot of people spend money to give their pet a good life.  And a heating pad cost less than $10.  Besides that what does it matter what somebody else spends their money on?

Not always.  I have had cats that never chewed cords.  Then I have one now that chews a lot of things.  Especially my phone charging cord. smh

I don't see where it would be a problem.  Except where I had read that it can cause problems (you would have to google it) to use it as a source of heating yourself up if you are cold all the time.  I think that is a warning on the pad as well.  A lot of people do it and it and I have never heard of a rash of people dying from heating pad accidents or over heating themselves.

I bought one of those thermal heat pads that works with a cat's body heat. At first, they didn't like it, but now they're on it every night. A firned bought a bundle of pine shavings as he was told it's the best thing for cats. I found an old pillow case, filled it with the shavings and used Velcro strips to close the ends. At first they didn't like it, but I think they've gotten a little used to it. It's in the same carrier under the warming pad.

Not sure why this can't be used, maybe because it can get really hot?
But Bed Bath and Beyond has heating pads for cats for about $10.

I would really would not let a cat or kittens sleep or rest on a heated pad or blanket. First cat's in general like to claw on stuff. They like to chew things too. I would be worried that this might cause some kind of electric problems!

You need a heating pad that you can heat up without using electricity you put a small blanket or rag over it and let your cat lay on that that should keep him or her warm and if they get to hot they will walk off letting you know but no  heating pad with cords thats never good ideas
