What do you feed your pet?
« on: January 18, 2018, 03:14:13 pm »
If i had the option, I would make food from scratch for my two cats. One of them won't touch any kind of human food and the other only likes friskies surf and turf. They both delight in Meow Mix wet food, but hate any new healthy food that I try. (No, my cats do not mind their food being changed. I know a lot of others get finicky about changes in food, but mine don't.) They are just very picky. I've tried to make them steamed cat fish and they don't like that either. I hate that I'm feeding them bad food, but the old one doesn't really give me a choice. When she passes, the other cat will start a healthy diet.
What do ya'll feed your pets? Do you put any stock in healthy pet food?

I feed my dog Natures Recipe. I try to find dog foods that have meat as the first ingredient and are more natural. They are a little more expensive but my fur babies worth it. Lol.

I am feeding my 2 cats grain-free dry and trying to working in what canned I can get them to eat (trying for the best possible quality but...).  One cat I have had about a month and has just turned 6 months and never had canned, just getting him on decent dry was tough on his system.  The other cat is 14 and was eating canned until her old friend got sick and was trying everything (including the kitchen sink to get her to eat) so that really messed her up.

We fed our dog dry food for years but as he has gotten older it seemed to get harder for him to digest his food.  We switched him to canned dog food a year or more ago and started feeding him more often but smaller portions.  It seems to be working really well for him.  He'll be 18 years old in a few months and considering that, he does excellent.

Kibble but also make chicken and  veggie cubes.  I cook the chicken with a bit of milk and boil veggies (broccoli, carrots and sweet potatoes.)  I use my food processor and grind them up and freeze them in ice cube trays.

My cat doesn't seem to mind any of the cat food that I feed her.  She eats anything that I sit in front of her.  She will also eat table food, but I limit that.

Indeed, I would love to make my JC homemade food. Butt...no...she's not starving so she don't have to like carrots potatoes and rice and peas etc. lol so cute she likes bisque treat only because she was mauled by dogs in her past and her jaws isn't the same, I wish I could make this cat bisque because she will be in trouble when the store don't sell it. She enjoys fancy feast, and others, but not the super cheap one that is a  :-\ for me. I give her treats too without the entertaining. She loves fresh water all the time, I see her washing her face and paws really.

That Blue buffalo or whatever dog food is supposed to be the best but it sure is pricey. Sometimes I think it would be cheaper and maybe healthier to just set aside a little unseasoned chicken etc. while making my own dinner and give that to the dog.

I don't have an animal at this time but when we had one, we would feed them what we ate.

I kind of do a healthy/non-healthy food plan for my cat. He loves Hill's Science Diet dry food, but he won't touch any healthy wet food with a 10-foot pole! So I end up giving him Friskies Gravy Sensations for his wet food. So I guess I'm feeding him half "right." :cat:

The dogs eat Instinct kibble or Dr Harvey.  That’s a freezed dry product,  you add protein (beef, chicken, eggs) 2 different oils, with the freeze dried product.  Their coats are beautiful, the white dogs coats are beautiful pure white.  As treats I go for carrots or treats from a local doggy bakery.  The cats eat Wellness, Instinct, Science.  I give them occasionally Purina, Fancy Feast, and treats are Tender Vittals
