Incorporating exercise into my daily life.
« on: March 11, 2018, 09:24:46 am »
I am 75 years old tomorrow.

This year, I can feel me slowing down a bit. I am an avid vegetable gardener.  Last year, had a couple slipped discs putting pressure on my sciatic nerve. Went downhill.

Finding some exercises to do everyday, starting with a complete stiff stretch in the morning for at least 25 seconds. Wow, does that help. When I get out of bed, I can stand straight now.  Have to do it every morning.

I am trying to not sit more than half an hour at a time, and when I get up, I kind of march....working my sore knees.

I am using water bottles as weights to work my arms while I am watching tv.

Trying to incorporate all the muscles in some exercise all through my day.

I also try to walk several blocks every day, weather permitting etc.

Spring is on the way, even in Wisconsin.  I want to be ready to have a garden that thrives for me and this family. Much healthier than store bought.

I am also sprouting a lot of Broccoli, Kale, and other sprout seed mixes in kitchen to give me the vitamins and vigorous health I want to maintain.

Hope you all are having spring health re-vitalization going on.  Helps the brain, the heart, the muscles, and all the body.

If you are a female adriarobi, then you're my kind of woman.

Good for you for trying so hard and being so vigilant with caring for yourself. :highfive:

Yes, I am indeed female.  I am a mom, a grandma, and even (gasp!) a great-grandmother.

Good you deserve a pat on the back! Great inspirational message and hope it motivates others to exercise more. My mother is seventy eight and has used a great many excuses to shy away from taking better care of her self. She does get out to do a little gardening but is somewhat resigned to sitting in her chair, next to my eighty six year old father, spending hours getting brainwashed by Fox news. I am not much better on the exercise front as I work sixteen to eighteen hours a day-sitting in my chair (not watching Fox news). I manage to escape for about two hours a week to take care of yard work and try to do a few things around the house between jobs and on trips to/from the refrigerator. Good luck to you with your ailments...exercise can do wonders.

I think its very important to work out daily.  You not only need to eat healthy but exercise helps keep you body in shape and mind working properly.  I usually try to workout about 4 times a week and including walking.

I was going to tell you to take your diet serious too, but then you mention that you are eating those good greens.  I would suggest finding a way to get some exercise even when it rains etc.  And drink a ton of water!!!  I drink 1.5-2 gallons a day.  It makes a world of difference.
