Did you ever receive a gift that you gave to someone else? Maybe for secret Santa, a baby shower, or as a birthday gift?

Yes, and sometimes it's turned out to be the perfect gift!

When I have a cuppa coffee, it often gets cold before I drink it all.

My son gave me a brand new sleek and insulated coffee mug that his girlfriend had given him. My son likes the giant ones, as he works long hours and drives a lot.

He felt bad, but won't uee it.  It eases his guilt giving it to his mom (me).

Yes. I have also gifted items that I found. I found a Tiffany sterling silver necklace (certified real when I stopped by a Tiffany's store), had it cleaned, bought a box on line, and gave it to my sister. She never knew the difference till I told her. I did try to locate the owners to no avail. I have regifted bottles of wine, fruitcake, and just about anything that I could not resell on line. My sister tends to compulsively buy me expensive knick knacks even though I am more of a minimalist/ capitalist. I tell her nicely, not to do it, that I am not into consumption, more into investing in the future of my children, yet she continues. My wife and kids tend to buy me little things but they are generally well thought out. I love skulls and skeletons and always welcome those gifts.

I don't recall, maybe I have in the past, but not recently.
A friend from back home told me the story of how some hideously ugly shirt that someone got as a gift 20-some years ago has become an annual family tradition to 're-gift' each Christmas. It stays in the family and each year they have to wrap it up and give to another family member. They always try to disguise the shirt by putting it into odd shaped packaging (as opposed to just a clothing gift box) so that the 'victim' is unsuspecting as they open the giftwrap.  Re-gifting at its finest!

I think maybe everyone has done it at some point.  Just always try to remember to take the old tag off of the gift first so whoever gets it doesn't know it's a regift lol

Years ago, I got a Walkman from a secret Santa, and gifted it to someone as part of another secret Santa.

I've have been on the receiving end of regifting quite often.  I get everyone's fruitcakes, because I'm the only one that likes them.  Works for me.

Once in a while, we re-gift. My daughter still has birthday parties, and always gets things she has no interest in. We usually will give it to someone else for a gift. That's why we usually only do gift cards for people, or make sure things have a gift receipt.

I don't see the big problem with regifting. Not everybody likes every gift. But it's theirs now to do with what they wish, including giving to someone who might like it better!
