:(  Yes it is sad - Toys R Us is the closest thing to a place in my hometown that we always went at Christmas.  I don't even remember what kind of store it was but the top floor or 2nd story at Christmas was a wonderland full of lights and toys - I am 64 and I still remember rows of red flyer wagons and rows of dolls.  Awwww those were the days   :present:

It is sad. These big stores are taking over. So many jobs will be gone.

I guess only the strong adapt and survive. The writing was on the wall when FAO Schwartz, a much nicer toy store, went under. Walmart is now chasing after Amazon and doesn't look to have much of a chance in catching up. The online market has definitely taken over. I think that a better approach, for brick and mortars, would be to staff their stores minimally and use them more for storage of goods that they will sell online at discounted prices. Everyone seems to be going this route-even grocery stores. It seems like you can not go to a grocery store with out seeing parking spots reserved for people who have communicated with the store in advance so that all they need to do is communicate with the store when they arrive in the parking lot.

They priced themselves out of business.  I feel for the employees that no longer have jobs.  I'm sure the execs are set for life, though...
Have a wonderful day!

I am not surprised, I rarely buy things for my children from there because they are to expensive. I also do not find any unique toys there that would set them apart from other stores.

I just heard this the other day.  Not a surprise to me as their locations have been closing for a number of year around here.  This would be a good time to have kids and pick up some toys for cheap!

I heard this today.  It's hard to believe that they are going out of business.  Does this also include Babies R Us.  They have such good events for babies that I hate to see them go.

Doesn't surprise me.  Toys are often stuff easier to order online.

Years ago this was the best place to take the kids for a special treat but now they have become to expensive to compared to online stores and Walmart.  But still will miss it

Stopped by the local one and it was packed! They had no flyers up saying they were closing, so hopefully they're spared for a while.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!
