becoming a grandma

Last night my son and daughter in law bought into the world the most beautiful girl.  We do not live in the same state but I have every intention of going back to Michigan to see my new grand daughter.

I am the first one in my family to be a grandma.  I have 11 sisters and 2 brothers.  I am only one in the family to have a married child even though there 20 grandkids.  So I am on top of the world to be the first for both.

Maybe this will ease up my pain of losing my daughter last year.

I know women that  are grandmothers at 30,so unfortunately it's becoming less special  and more of a red flag om poor parenting.My aunt became a grandmother in her 50's,her daughter's second husband's daughter pregnant at 15.

I am 52 and my son is 34 and married.   I was also married before having kids or even sex.  I was brought differently than lot of people.  They wanted kids right away and I am happy for them and myself of being a grandma at what I consider early age.  My kids did not believe in having sex before marriage. 
I have a plane ticket to go to Michigan on May 1st to meet my beautiful grand daughter.

A little Note for JWKELLY,  is there ever a time that you can comment something positive instead of always being negative.  You really need help with your attitude and I do not care if it offends you.  I have not seen a single post on here that is positive by you and you have ton of posts.

Oh my gosh congratulations what a true blessing to be a grandparent I am patiently waiting for that day to happen my daughter has lost two babies now and it's been very hard on us please enjoy this blessing you've been given and spoil it rotten

That is wonderful news!  I am so happy for you.  I bet you can’t wait to get off that plane and hold that baby. Have a safe trip I know it will be a happy trip!!!

congradulations funn being grandma. I have 2 grandsons and one on the way not sure the sex hope its a girl ha ha. Now that babies r us and toys r us is going out of business good time to shop hurry before things are gone.

I am sorry about your daughter. I lost my son 5 years ago. I understand you really never get over that.

His four daughters, my grand-daughters are my joy.  The oldest has become a mommy and expecting great-grandchild 2.

It can help a lot. Grandkids fill the hard places in life with a lot of joy.

Congratulations on being a Grandma!  I have been one for a year now.  I never realized what our lives were missing until Edison came into our lives!!
