Hocking Hills region of Ohio
« on: May 10, 2018, 06:20:29 am »
Wow!  Wow! Wow! At this time this spot has made it to the top of our list.  I wish there were more things to do and see along the route however the drive isn't so bad and we could get there and still enjoy the night without wasting a full day in travel time.  So that's a huge perk.

Moving onto researching another recommendation.

I was just about to post a few photos in your other thread where I made the Hocking Hills suggestion, but the photo linking wasn't working out for me, so I unfortunately did not post.  Sounds like maybe you found a few for yourself?  It really is a beautiful place!  I was less than 10 years old the last time I was there, but still have vivid memories of exploring the trails and rock formations.  I'll be going back in just over a week for a family wedding.

There are also some Amish settlements not tremendously far away from that area which could be worth a side trip.
Good luck with the continued search!

I live an hour from Hocking Hills. I used to live 20 minutes from there. Beautiful place! I live a half an hour from the Wilds. I've been there a few times. The bus ride through the fields observing the animals is really cool!

I'll have to find that bus tour your speaking of.  What kind of animals did you see?

We just returned from our weekend trip to Hocking Hills for a family wedding. It is definitely what you are looking for in terms of secluded cabins in the woods with great hiking close by. I have a few photos and short video clips from the cabin we stayed in that I would be happy to share with you.  Or you can see the 'official' version here.

There is no WiFi and cell service on Verizon is extremely limited due to the tree cover. Out in the open you might be able to get spotty low level LTE service. But if you are looking for woodsy seclusion, you probably would welcome the lack of connectivity!

Incredible place!
