Because their has been a drop in the membership, the Boy Scouts will now allow girls to join, and they will be changing their name too. The Girl Scouts don't like this.

What do you think about them allowing girls to join the Boy Scouts?

I hope this topic doesn't arouse everyone's emotions to much because any answer is wide open to dissent. So here goes. I don't think it was a decline in membership that caused them to admit girls. I believe it was political correctness, and the fact that they openly admit gays as members and leaders when one's sexuality should not even be a topic at all in this group. Scouting was always a way to hone men into leaders and good citizens.

I personally don't think it's a good idea to keep changing everything to try and please everyone. You can't please everyone all the time. It's impossible. But it will keep being tried regardless of what I think.

I think that there are some places where girls do not belong and there are some places where boys do not belong. This opinion has nothing to do with gender bias, discrimination, or segregation. Girls do not belong in the Boy Scouts and boys do not belong in the Girl Scouts.    :bad:

To clear up the matter, there will still be separate troops for boys and girls.  There will be girl troops and boy troops.  Girls wanted the same opportunity to earn the badges that the boys earn.  Girls also wanted the right to become Eagle Scouts.  It's pretty simple in my eyes.  It should be equal all around.

I see nothing wrong with separate scouts for boys and girls. The grey area is probably those that don't "identify" as either. I was a Girl scout for 6 years and my 12 year old daughter is in her 7th year of Scouts. I personally prefer for her to be with just girls.

The girls will be with the girls.  The Scouts of America will not combine boys and girls in one troop.  The advantage to this is your daughter will now be able to earn badges that previously only the boys could earn.  She will also be eligible to become an Eagle Scout which is great on college applications.  There are more advantages to the combination than there are disadvantages.

Just call the organization "Scouts"!!

Girls can rub 2 sticks together and roast marshmellows as well.Guys can learn how to sew.

Only difference is guys have an advantage when nature calls in the woods.

My boys are in cub scouts and they brought up the girls joining at the last meeting. I m not really into it. Girl scouts represented girls learning and bonding with each other and vice versa with boys scouts. It is good to have your guy time or girl time. Male and female don't have to be with each other all the time. I enjoy my girl time and like to take a break away from guys. I don't see why the kids can not have that once a week.

This is a tough topic but personally I believe boys should be in Boy Scouts and girls should be in the Girl Scouts I'm not sure what we're complishing by mixing the two it kind of takes away the meaning of both in my opinion

I don't think they are mixing the two. The boys and girls will be separate. What I understand is that girls will now have the same opportunity to earn the same merit badges as boys and even have the distinction of being Eagle Scouts. We'll see how this develops further down the line.

They are not allowing girls to join because there is a drop in the membership. They are allowing girls to join because they do not have the guts or backbone to stand up to a bunch of girls who want to be boys and tell them they need to join the girl scouts. I want to think this country cannot get any more screwed up but every time I have that thought something else like this makes the news.

Uh they can earn badges. In the GIRL SCOUTS! Girls do not need to be Eagle Scouts. They have their own ranks in their own troops. I was in the girl scouts and I earned all kinds of badges.

Curious why you object to the girls being given the same opportunities as the boys.
