Yes, I think that would qualify as stealing.

If they are giving samples then no it is not stealing. But when you go around sampling things and then not buying it then yes it is stealing. I have had to open a box of Kleenex because I ran out. But  I made sure I bought the box. When I go to buy grapes or other veggies I always check them for freshness by  gently feelin them for freshness and if they feel soft I just don't buy them.

Getting free samples is one thing, but just eating stuff off the shelves to "sample it" is completely different. I don't touch any groceries until I'm fully checked out.

They do not have tons of sample givers.  There may be one every now and then. Maybe a couple times a week.  And you get ONE BITE of something.  The grapes she scarfs down are not samples.  It is no different than the thieves who get doughnuts and eat them without paying for them.

Yes, and it would gross me out to see people "sampling" the fruit.

I think we figured out there were only a select few that were thieves, I think the rest of us need to say a prayer to help her over come her addiction  of stealing grapes at  Target/Wally World  :glasses-nerdy:  :moneymouth: :glasses-nerdy:

I will try one grape to see if they are sweet.  If they are, I will buy them.  If not, I don't.
Have a wonderful day!

My mom always tasted the grapes before she bought them -- I wondered about that.  She didn't walk around the store "munching" on them -- that does seem like stealing.... like opening a bag of chips, walking around the store eating them, then throwing the  bag away.

Tasting one grape or cherry or something in an open bag I do not think is stealing if you buy the bag. But if you eat them as you go thru the store and don't pay for anything then yes you are a thief.  If you eat half the bag and it sells by weight so you only pay for half of what you took then you are stealing.  But tasting a couple grapes then buying the bag I wouldn't classify as stealing.

I agree entirely with this opinion.  How can it not be stealing to munch away on any items in the store with no intention to buy.  The only time I take a grape or cherry is to see if they are sweet and fully ripened and then I generally buy.  However, not always.  For example,  about 1 out of every 4 times I try grapes they turn out to be sour.  I don't want to waste my money on those!

Yes it is stealing because you have not paid for the item and they charge by weight.  If you ask the product manager to sample something and he gives the ok, then it's not stealing.

I will get a drink from the cooler and drink it while I shop if I'm thirsty. However I always pay for it afterwards with the rest of my groceries even if it's only half full or empty. I make sure that the cashier is aware of it.
