« on: June 22, 2018, 06:43:26 pm »
at your husband? he uses insulin for diabetes and his doc told him about Victoza he said if you cant afford it that's ok. we cant afford it we pay 100.00 for insulin  this is 170.00 a month. he has medicare part d covers some. we will put it on credit cards . husband doesn't seem to care how much it costs. our entire marriage he has bought *bleep* we don't need. the regular insulin seems to be working . I said how about try it for 2 or 3 months . he said it may help you loose weight so does not eating so much.   ive come to the point of not caring anymore  will not talk to him much cause it really makes me crazy.

If he wants to try it, I would just let him try it to see if it helps him out.  If it does, then he feels great & loses weight.  If it doesn't, just go back to his other insulin.   I would think that your doctor could give him a free sample, like a trial sample so he can test it out.    My doctor always gives me free samples of Flonase, thankfully, that stuff is expensive.

Good luck to your husband!  ... and you :)

That's a sad situation to be in.  I've gotten quietly upset with my husband over things.  He was dying to own a treadmill.  I wanted a stationary bike as that's what I was using in PT for my knees.  We now have a treadmill - and he uses it regularly.  So that's good.  I still don't have a bike.  But I'm getting ready to order a commuter bike so during the summer I can ride to and from work. I only get mad because if it's something he wants he'll find a way. He'll make it happen. He writes a budget each month.  Goes over it with me. Our needs are met.  If it's something I want I figure out how to get it outside of our budget...so I get what I want too.  It just doesn't come from our budget.  And that's okay.  Not gonna sweat the small stuff.  Personally I wouldn't fall back on the credit cards - even for medicine if I didn't have too.  Good luck.

I am thinking if it was YOU that needed the insulin to stay alive you wouldn't care how much it costs.  You would want to get it.  It is insane that medication is so expensive, medication people need to stay alive, that it can't be afforded. The only people who can afford it is the people on welfare. And they get everything for free.

That is a very difficult situation.  I pray that the two of you would be able to come to  an agreement.

That is such a sad situation.  You need to go back and talk to the doctor.  With so many medications out there, there must be one that will be cheaper and have the same effect.  Medication is expensive and you shouldn't wind up in debt because of it or in a broken home because of its cost.

Medication should not cost so much that people cannot afford it. The only reason it costs that much is because the ones who have know that the ones who need will pay for it. Esp if they have insurance. The ones with no insurance can just die. They don't really care.  We recently left the ER with 2 scripts. One of them we filled. The other was so extremely expensive and not really needed to we let it go.

I agree that you have a very difficult situation.
Medication and procedures cost so much that people are forced to choose between getting the procedure done and getting the meds or feeding their family or paying their normal monthly bills.  It is WRONG.
Especially when people on welfare or the system because they have a "diagnosis" can go to the doctor for every little hiccup while the working people who take of the ones with the "diagnosis" have to make the decision to not do procedures because of the cost.

Don’t waste your time let him live & learn! In the meantime go & do research on that new costly meds! It maybe one of those new meds that have been found to cause death to some patients! Check out his doctor too, he may 1 of others who likes getting kickbacks for rewards for getting his patients to go for the new more expensive drugs!
