Chocolate Babushka
« on: August 13, 2018, 08:42:01 am »
In case anyone else was wondering what the heck a chocolate babushka is, since it's used as a password to sign in on FC sometimes. It's a 3D hollow chocolate doll with a smaller doll inside it. I believe it may have originated in Russia. Babushka means old woman or grandmother in Russian.

Just FYI. I thought if I was interested, someone else might be too.

I thought it was Chocolate Babka that was the password, I havent seen babushka before

I have Polish grandparents and heard that word often, but I always thought a babushka was a scarf, I guess I learned something today! :)

Yes, my password is Babka.  I also believe that babushka is a hat or scarf.

It may have multiple meanings - many words do.  I remember the meaning that you stated.

Whether that's our password or not, it's still interesting.  Who would have ever thought of putting a little chocolate doll inside a bigger one!  What's the purpose?  I would like to hear the origin of this tradition.  But mainly, I'd just like to eat the chocolate!

  :glasses-nerdy:  :silly: Wow that's interesting to know what Babushka means. I guess that if your from a different part of the world you would use different types of passwords and use different words.

When I was growing up....born in '43, the term "babushka" referred to the little square scarfs folded into a triange. and tied on the head of Russian peasants, old and young.

I had several in my early years of elementary, middle school. I nick-named it "my babu".

Yeah I don't think its babushka..the other thing I noticed is on the daily email survey for .02 it is supposed to give you the opportunity to choose between coke and pepsi...whats up with that?

The actual Russian name for the nesting dolls is Matryoshka.  A Babushka is a hat!
